well i finally got a little break from hunting and honey do's today and made out to a buddy's house and used his welder to weld up the front motor mounts ive had made for some time now.cut off a bunch of the brackets im not gonna be using and smoothed em up, im also in the proccess of building a extended anti vibe steering stem. i ordered the tapered machinced pieces that the clamp bolts too and they should be here sometime this week so maybe within the next week or 2 ill have the stem completed too. sorry no pics for now my son busted my camera so ill get some up when i can.
wow man sounds good, been thinking of the yz 250 myself, but i also thought of putting the honda 250r in my build, but i got a ways to go still, my frame hasnt even arrived yet, lol but i got a bunch of sh*t for it for when it does!! cant wait to see the finished prodo
got home today and had some goodies come in the mail, got the pieces from lonestar and got the chromoly tubing in so i got right to work when i got home and this is what i have gotten done so far. a tubing notcher would make this hella easier. if i had a welder it would be done tonight so maybe tomorrow. what do yall think?
Most tubing notchers wouldn't be able to grab that short a piece of tubing to notch it. You could make your own clamp if you were trying to cut only 90" pieces that short but the stock configuration cuts pieces about 5" long. ;-)
For not having a notcher, the grinder notches look really good and fit nice and tight. Shouldn't have any problems with those joints. Who's going to do the welding and how are they going to do it?
well could u leave the tubing longer and make your marks and notch the very end and then just slide the pipe in further to your next mark and just cut into the pipe for the next side? ive never used a notcher so im just guessing on that but it seemed like it would work. its a pain in the arse grinding those and actually keeping em straight but they came out pretty tight i think
ill be doing the welding SUPERVISED by a buddy of mine that is a pipeliner by trade, i really want to do all the work myself or atleast all that i think im capable of. to keep it all square well will tack it all together and then tack it down on a piece of metal to help keep it from warping and most likely wont be welding much at a time to keep it from heating up too much. u got a better way?
a buddy is supposed to be making me some gussets because he can cut better than i can. ive made all the gussets from cardboard and gave em to him to cut out and then ill weld them up.
im gonna build a +3 roundhouse swinger a little later on, i already have the pivot tubes from jjandaracing, i just have to get a carrier and a couple other pieces to start but that will be a little while longer.
really not sure yet what i wanna do with the pegs, the nerfs i want have the fat pegs and integrated heel guard but they aint cheap so i gotta save some pennies for that lol
