gearbox (tranny) oil

can u use any 10 w 30 motor oil for tranny , does it need 2 b non detergent or can it contain detergents the manual states yamaha lube 4 AND 10 w 30 type se

use motorcycle 10w30 if you want to use that, you have to make sure your oil does not contain friction modifiers. or use ATF Type F

the simpler the oil the better, remember that you need an oil that doesnt have anti friction properties in it, if it does, it will cause clutch slippage, but you still want something that holds its own between the gear teeth. as for detergents, i would think its better without it. I know the Yamalube 2 stroke Gbox oil has an anti foaming property as well as good teeth shear protection

another good bet is auto transmission oil.
