Guys once again!! Lol I apologize for all the noob questions, but I'm gathering ALL the info I need for my teardown and build up soon.

Heres my question. With an Extended swing arm what other parts would need to be replaced? Brake lines and a longer chain correct?

If you guys can please answer in this format if you guys dont mind.

Thank you all SO MUCH! In advanced for all your help you guys have been great with all my other threads and are very knowledgeable.

Ok lol after I finished my post I just thought about it. I'm like 8" must be waaaaay to muchh. I was really thinking hard about getting a +4 or +6 because I'll also be doing qx as much as trail riding though, so thats why I figured +6... But I think +4 should be perfect.

Can anybody direct me as to which brake lines and chain I should get? My blaster is an 04' if that matters brake wise.

....a drag maching

Hahaahahahahahaa. TYPO! But yes, a +8 is extremely big and you wont have fun with one on the trails. Extended swingarms are mainly used for ATV's with modified engines that put out more horsepower/acceleration. More acceleration means easier to lift the front wheels up which it is then necessary for a longer swingarm.

You should determine the correct size swingarm by the engine.

Well my engine is going to be sent in to O'Connor Racing for some serious porting work I:I

Go with the +4. And an 04 will have rear hydro's so you will need a brake line. I used a 106 link chain on my +4 but I had to cut one link out, so go 105.

Ok, Any specific brake line? or just any ol' extended brake line? And any specific chain companys? I hear D.I.D has real good chains.

Thanks! But only thing is I cant seem to find the right chain and sprockets. I'm looking for a 14/40 sprocket set up and a chain like you said but I cant seem to find it.

And I've read that 14/40 sprockets make first gear a bit longer correct?

Whats the best rear sprocket tooth amount? 40 correct? I see thats what a lot of guys on here are running. 14/40 set ups.

like already said the best size swingarm for all around riding and racing is usually +2-4". engine mods, terrain and rider weight/style all play factors in the overall length that is best for you. gearing is decided on weight, engine mods and terrain. if you can specify all these things we can help you make a better choice on your overall setup.

Going to get ported by O'Connor Racing, fmf gold series fatty and a power core 2, boyesen dual stage reeds, got a new air filter. 6ft 1 200lbs, and mainly trail riding and some quadcross not even till I get good, just some qx jumps and stuff. maybe a race here and there.

i dint like the stigma that is must be +3 or +4, what about the whole inch in between? call me metric but i did mine at 85mm, so its 3 1/2 inch:)

remember--the longer the swingarm, the more leverage you have and in turn your shock will bottom out easier. if you go +4, at your size, id suggest you get a 400ex rear shock, the two go hand in hand, +swinger and longer travel shock

So what you guys are saying is I should be fine with a +4 swinger? And the 400ex shock does it mount right up?
