hello, i just picked up a 98 blaster and was told it just got a fresh vitos 240 kit installed. it starts but as soon as you hit the gas it revs out really high for a few seconds then gradually comes down. then as i hit the gas to keep it running, it bogs for a sec and does the same thing. he told me it was probably the carb and gave me a used carb. So i put it on and its doing the same thing. So i call him and he says the timing is off. so i watched a vid on how to set the timing and it just doesnt seem like that is the problem. Is anybody familiar with this issue? thanks alot Bill

The timing should not be off, sounds more like an air leak and or jetting and tors problems as well , you should list all mods done to the motor and related

First off, your jetting is probably wrong in the carburetor. You need a # 35 pilot jet, and around a 360 main jet for that Vito's kit to run well with your stock carburetor. Take the bowl off and check your jets. Change them as needed.

Also, do a little reading up on here about how to do a leakdown test. Do one. Don't run your engine until you are sure that the engine is leak-free. If you don't test, you may blow up your new top end!

besides the 240 kit and boyesen reeds with a spacer, and a uni air filter. everything else is stock. i was thinking maybe it should be jetted and how would i be able to check for air leaks? thanks Bill
