I want to build or mod my engine for trail riding. Most of my buddies ride 450's and bigger so im kind of the slow one out of the group. What kind i do that will give me the extra power?? Its bored .04 over with a jet kit. A buddy of mine is trying to sell me a 36mm alky carb, but im wonder if that will be more of a pain then anything,

36mm alky carb would be WAY overkill for that engine and would probably result in its demolition....

If you really want to wake that engine up, get a decent pipe (biggest single jump in HP) and slightly larger carburetor. The factory carburetor is a little bit on the small side. if you plan on adding any sort of real power to it, it becomes downright limiting.

Once you have the pipe and carburetor, you can look into taking the top end off and getting it ported with a matching head mod. Those together REALLY wake a blaster engine up.

yip, a suspension upgrade will also see you sitting with them better. get a port job done and add the pipe etc, blasters have potential

I figured a pipe would be a good place to start. What pipe would you recommend? I probably ride 80% trails but I also road ride so I don't want to give to much top end up either.

an fmf sst would be right upyour alley too.....but if you change out the suspension a little bit and add power in th form of a pipe, a aftermarket airfilter(i personally reccomend UNI foam), and some reeds, you'll keep with them for the most part. if you are a good rider you can waste em in the tight stuff, but never on the roads.
after you get all those other thing you can look into a different carb and go see an engine builder on here for some real power adders like porting and head rechambering. Ken O'Connor would be the guy i recomend for that, he made my bike feel like it doubled in power with a head mod.
