I have a 2002 blaster, When it does start it acts like the its out of time or an intake leak. Here is a list of stuff i inspected. ps. my oil injection is blocked off.

Clean carb
plug
woodrift key
replaced cdi
bypassed throttle switch.
replaced coil n cap
good crank seals
good reed valve
center case dividing gasket ok
new magneto coils / pick up coil
head and cylinder tight no leak.
trans vent
Does not burn any gear oil

I have no clew on what else it could be, i put the plug up to the head and pushed the bike in second gear, it sparks the whole time. my friend who sold it to me sent it to yamaha to replace the top end. when it came back they put about 3hrs on it parked it and now it runs funny. What do i do? Truely freaking out today.

List of ALL mods and carb jetting/settings would also help diagnos. Also describing what it is doing would help, how do you describe lean? Out of time? Have you done leak test? What plug you running? Good blue, fat spark? Recently cleaned carb, completly disassembling it, not just a quick douch with sray carb cleaner? Fresh fuel?

Start it up and take a map gas torch turn it on but dont light it and go around your intake base and so on and see if the rpm changes.

Do that of course after you get it running correctly.you didnt specify mods or jetting and its runs funny is a broad horizon we need more details.

There should be no gasket between the halves, only a sealant, or do you mean that the cases are not leaking!

There are no mods, Im not the guy who put in the oil bypass kit. Carb is clean clean. no jets have been replaced. When it does start it will pop sneeze and backfire, Cant hold the rpms steady. Very touchy throttle response. It will try and die when running, mainly after a backfire, I have fresh 89 octane fuel mixed at 40:1 with golden spectro and my plug is a ngk B8es. I sprayed brake clean around the intake, lower cyl gasket and the case to try and get a rpm change but there is no way to keep the rpms steady because of the nature of the problem, When it does fall on its face it will burn off the fuel that was not burned. In a sudden burst. Im not shure on how to explain the problem, Ill try and make a video but keep in mind this is only my second time on this site so bare with me, Im going to try and run a different carb to find out if mine is the problem. Also could someone define leak down test. Is it the same as spraying brake clean around sealing points like case and intake? Thank you all for your ideas. But the battle is not over yet, Thank you.

When you pull the carb look in at the reed valves. They should seat on the cage all around. No chips, fray, or cracks. Highly doubt it's carb. Could possibly be loose flywheel or sheared key. If flywheel is tight (nut) you MUST use a flywheel puller, not 2-3 jaw.

Hopefully some one will post linc for test.

Leak down test.

32:1 Is The recommended oil to fuel ratio, 40:1 is not quite enuff oil.

I know they say to use manufactures specs or at 50:1, the Blaster stock ratio is about 20:1 , but most people run at 32:1 which is just fine.

Any 200cc aircooled engine should not use any ratio with less oil than 32:1.

Question? How much smoke does it make, what colour, and does it smell really badly?
