Detonation question

Was thinking about doing a couple cheap mods & wondered if anyone had any input. My Blaster will probably never see a bigger carb or big bore kit. Probably a pipe in the future, but that's it. I like to play around on it, but usually my 13 yr old son trail rides it.

I thought I might get the Vito's thinner head gasket & 4 deg timing advance for now. My question is, if I do both, will I run into a detonation issue? Should I do one or the other? I always only run 93 octane.

If you are not looking to put a bunch of money into it, But are looking to get a little gain of power into it, there are sevral options that you could go with. like a pipe, filter that can run with box open or gone, You could also have head mod done to open here up a little, Its not expencive and you can still run pump gas. There is the timing advance, just some of the things that you can have done to it.

Forget get about the timing advance, the Blaster has no retard in the spark lead. The timing is fixed..... Buy the .025" gasket that Vito offers
The pipe is going to be the biggest bang for the investment

The air box is very restrictive. You can actually see it start to implode when you give it gas. Drill several 1” holes in the cover. Costs nothing. The Vito's head gasket or cutting the head sealing surface are both inexpensive mods and work well. If you have a machinist friend, bore the carb 1mm oversize. If you have a Dremel, do the 4 degree timing advance and watch the vids on DIY porting and clean up the casting flaws. Keep an eye on Craigs list and Ebay for a used pipe and silencer. A set of duel stage reeds are also very inexpensive. These are all very safe mods that will work well together and not compromise the engines dependability. If you do the work yourself, you'll be able to do this for under $200.

If you take the tors off it will rev up a little faster . And i think they got an aftermarket cdi that takes the rev limiter off.So i would think reving faster would give you better acceleration. and no rev limiter could probably get more power out of each gear.

They also got a sneaky pete nos kit you can add its rather inexpensive you can find it in one of these threads just search for it. Easy to install to.
