Debating port work

i've emailed ken back and forth a few times and he seems very knowledgable. and even though i am getting into the engine design and porting area, i am trusting him with the work for my engine

Well theres a reason you don't see ported modern mx bikes.... some even fill in the ports (make them smaller) depending on what their doing with the engine. Most modern 2stroke engines are pretty much as good as their going to get stock.

When we "port" our old bikes all were basically doing is bringing them up to modern specifications. If a exhaust port is too wide or too tall, or the durations are too high then yes you will have a pipey, peaky mess of a bike. But this is completely avoidable if the builder knows how to get the most out of your specific engine. So do your research and make sure the dude with the die cutter knows his stuff!

my comment was moreso blaster specific but that's a good point.

just looking at the blast ports you can see room for improvement, the head is REALLY lazy. there's a ton of power to be gained just by doing a head mod.

and as i was trying to elude to earlier, if the builder can only build a peaky blaster motor, it sounds like you need to find a new builder

Yeah I knew your comment was blaster specific. Guess I was just in a 2stroke mood I:I

i'd have to catch up on new stuff, done too much reading on how to make this 70's tech junk work worth a sh!t lol

lol no doubt.....
