Commencing 240 rebuild!

The way I've always painted was to hit it with the first coat... let it flash to a tacky surface then hit it again. IMO, letting it harden fully, wet sanding and spraying again takes too long. Or I'm just impatient...

Swing arm! A-arms will hopefully be here tomorrow. Black as well. Then I begin the swap.

Wet on wet method works just fine, providing that you can keep the runs under control.

So I got to looking at the frame and all my parts... the distressed look has intrigued me lately. So I'm looking to make it shiny and old looking. A-Arms, swing arm and all are going to be sanded through top, base and to bare metal in some spots. A-Arms need to be cleared and the frame could use another go after I sanded through it in spots. What does everyone think?

Paint ran like a track star... poorly lit "paint booth". Sanded to respray and kind of liked it. Will be clearing everything. And I did the seat cover, bought it on eBay. Stuck it on myself. Hopefully spraying clear tonight. Will keep y'all posted.

It was the clear that ran, not color. The color coat flashed for 24 hours and was taken down before clear, I just couldn't see how well the clear was coating. Painted it in a make-shift 6'x6' drop sheet booth in my basement with one light bulb. It's OK though... after cutting through the color to the primer and bare, I like the result. Cleared it last night again and decided it's one of those fortunate f**k up situations. I'll grab some pics and post them shortly.

Please accept my apology, this statement fooled me into thinking the wet on wet was the problem.

No sure how the clearcoat is going to handle bare metal, clears are designed to be applied over an abraded base coat

I've cleared over bare metal before... sometimes depends on the metal. One of my old motorcycle builds was bare stainless on all the sheet metal. Front fender pitted but I chalk that up to sandy spring roads.

Progress. Slow progress, but forward movement, none-the-less...

And one with my little mechanic.

Did some work today. The goal was a full roller by the end of the day but that obviously didn't happen. Now I've got two half wheelers but no full one.

haha, yeah when i painted my frame i said "ill put it together tomorrow".... well lets just say i had it together in 2 hrs...... i couldnt stand not riding it for 2 weeks

The air scoops are ebay specials... I'm not sure they're going to work. They interfere with the suspension with the diamond j kit is on. I know it's not the ideal setup but I'm only looking for wider and I'm not looking at dropping 500. This will work for now. The plastics and front end come off tomorrow I hope.

The cannibalism continues! Hopefully full roller tonight then the guts come out and I'll be riding this weekend.
