i have a new Magnum basket, Driveline plates and springs, no matter what I do it will not fully disengage! When I put it together the friction plates were pretty tight in the basket, I'm wondering if that is the problem. So far I'm not impressed with either company!

Magnum basket and Driveline Performance HD clutch for 3+ seasons now and still pulling like the day I installed them.

are you letting it warm up first and working the clutch lever a few times before taking off ?
the smooth (versus dimpled) steel plates of the DP clutch make them a lil sticky until fully warmed, but thats part of what puts the power down

did you readjust the inner rod adjustment ?
ball present and not welded to the rod ?

If parts are new.... then its not the parts... its ANY of the above! ;)

I have tried all of the above! AWK when you put the fibers in the basket did they drop in or did you have to push them in?

Not really,All my stuff works .:D.. so..

Did you measure the plates and the steels ?
Did you set the adjuster correctly ?
Is the ball even there or welded to the rod ?
Did you use the right oil ?
Is the cable binding ?
What is the spring height measurement ?

If you don't have any answers... then you have not done much !

I bought a new Magum basket, I bought a new Driveline clutch with steels , frictions and springs. Would you have measured it all? I doubt it, as you say it's all new it should work. It's adjusted properly and it still doesn't work right. I think the friction plates fit too tight that is why I asked AWk if his had to be pushed on or did they fall in the basket. Mine didn't just fall in they were super tight and I don't know if that's the way that basket and plates work or not. So if they are too tight then either the basket is wrong or the plates are.

I measure everything that's what a real tech does.. but not parts changers! If you look in the ad section you will see a set of USED Tusk plates with the printed specs they meet. So don't tell me what I do or not do ! No answers to the questions ..YOURE DEAD TO ME !

Once again you have nothing worthwhile to contribute!

I do remember them being snug,
I think I've seen someone else saying they had to hit the fingers of the basket lightly and evenly with a file to loosen things up a bit

That's what I suspected, thanks!

I guess that was before you put them in ?;)

I had to do that. i filed the basket to bare aluminum to make them fit.

make sure you do it on the side of the fingers that wont wear or become grooved. i think the filing could make it weaker but im not sure

yeh i only did as little as possible. it turned out to be just enough to get the colored coating off.

before i filed it i had to push for all i was worth haha

I guess you could also file the plate and fiber tabs if you didnt want to file the basket. It would take a bit longer but same princial.

I ended up taking off the fiber plates instead of the basket and now it works great. Wasn't sure if the basket had a coating or not and plates are much cheaper than a basket. I wish I would've saved my old clutch to see which product is made wrong. I can say I don't think I would buy the Magnum basket again after having to modify the back plate and then my plates also. It's pretty irritating that people make parts that are not correct, reminds me of Japanese fenders that have 10 bolt holes and the last one is way off, lol!

Good idea.:).That was a better suggestion than filing on the basket. As far as parts fitting correctly , a lot of aftermarket parts are made in the middle of the spec range. This allows for the parts to be hand fitted or "blueprinted" to meet the requirements needed. If the parts are too tight or too loose then they are not in spec and will not perform best.Mixing parts of one manufacture and another will most likely increase the chances of this happening as will cheap parts too. Of course all this needs to be considered BEFORE installation .
