I put a new chain tensioner(it is a little roller that goes over the the two nubs that come out of the frame over & under the chain), on my blaster last week. The chain was grinding against the peice before I put it on. Now it is practically ate off and I cant afford to keep paying $15 plus shipping for these Does anyone know something I could do.

you talking just that chain roller they last longer then a week make sure your chain isnt to tight

Your chain is probably too tight if you're eating a roller off per week. That, or your suspension is in a bind. Is any part of the rear suspension not factory?

As far as the rollers go,I made my own. Cost me $4 a piece....

I went to the hardware store and bought a bronze bushing tube. 1/2" by 1 1/8" by .080" and bought two different size tubing's 5/8" heater hose and 7/8" ID pressure washer hose (like hydraulic hose with the reinforcement but less expensive and like plastic on the outside instead of rubber).

I ground the bronze tube down to length until it would roll easily with the bolt and washer tightened up. Then I used a sharp box cutter/utility knife and cut the two pieces of hose to length (right about an inch) and forced the one piece of hose inside the other and then the bushing inside of both. The result is what looks like a factory chain roller on the outside (same baic size) but is actually more resilient (because there are two layers of material to eat through before the protection is gone) and less damaging to the frame. The bronze is naturally softer than the steel so it's sacrificial...

i only run the $10 dual bearing rollers on my bike, but have freeks delron rollers on my sons heading into their second season and they're holding up great, too bad he's not been very active lately, nor seems to be making them or the case savers anymore
but the delron rollers could be made for cheap, and seem to last good

mine only touches when i double up with a passenger for a quick spin, how much do you weigh? if you really heavy, you may be setting your chain to were it seems right but when you get on, your suspension compresses and pushes out making your chain tighter...

Thank you for all the help I will try to take a pic but its hard to get a clear pic on that part of the bike. I will more than likely try to build one at the hardware store. I think every on is right Im pretty sure my chain was too tight. Everyone is really helpful on this site I always get my best answers right here.

I bought the 34mm Alba chain roller off of ebay and it works great. To install, I just cut off the stock metal tube flush with the frame, filed it down smooth, then just thread the bolt that comes with the roller into the remaining threads and put on the lock nut.

Done deal.
