What is the difference in the older blaster carriers and the 03-up blasters? I have an 03 and I cant find a used carrier for it and I was wondering if I can use one of the older carriers.

the dif is the brake mount the 88-02 had cable brakes and your up have hydro other than that there the same hope this helps

sorry not trying to be a pecker but thats wrong lonlywolf, there are 2 small oil seals for a pre '03 that '03 and up dont use and where the bearings ride the axel is actually a diff. shape. so you cannot use a old style carrier on a new axle.

Not trying to be a pecker also but that is some wrong info also. The seals that sit next to the carrier bearings are the same. The two small seals that hold the axle on is for pre 03.However the carrier is the same dimensions and will bolt right up and work fine but he would obviously not have the correct brake mount. The 03 and up blasters use axle lock nuts and a brake collar where the 88-02 use the two oil seals mentioned and lock nuts to hold it in place. Bottom line is you want a carrier from an 03-06 blaster. But any blaster carrier will work on any blaster from 88-06.

I've seen people use the old style carrier but just make a new spacer clamp for the brake. the ols style is postioned more forward, just have to move it back. the newer ones are harder to find used and ussauly are $60 on up

right, but what i am saying is a new axle wont go into a old carrier. i just went through this same deal.

Alright thanks for the help guys. My problem is I just bought this 03 blaster and the carrier bearings were shot. So my buddy gave me some carrier bearings that he had for his 1998 blaster and they fit in the carrier without play but when i tried pressing the carrier back over the axle one side of the bearing and seal came out and the spacer came out. Its like my spacer wont fit over the axle or something because it pushes the bearings out when I try pressing the carrier back onto the axle. Does anyone have a 03 or newer carrier for sale? I cant find a used one anywhere and I cant post in the wanted section.

The carrier is shot too I believe I was going to see if I could use it long enough to get another carrier but I figure why not get another one and do it right while its apart.

when i changed my bearings this past weekend my axle was doing kinda the same thing. the problem was there was a bit of crud on the axle (grease, dirt, rust.) but it didnt seem like it was going to matter but it did keep the axle from fitting so i took a wire wheel and cleaned it up, went right in with no probs after that.

I wire brushed the axle it looks new I cleaned the spacer and I even heated the spacer and it still would not drop in there like its suppose to. Someone has to have a used carrier on here for sale. i would post it in the wanted section but it wont let me I guess because im a new member.

Again they will go in with no problems.I have installed a few banshee axles in a blaster. The shee axle is exactly the same as a 03-06 blaster axle except the shee is 3 1/2 longer. The carrier dimensions are the same exact carrier with just different brake mounts. Here is a pic of an older style carrier with a shee brake boss cut off and welded to it.And that is the shee axle pictured.I have installed a total of 5 shee axles in an older carrier without any problems.

So I can take a banshee carrier and use it and it will work?

No a banshee carrier will not work. You can cut the brake boss off (brake mount) and weld it to an 88-02 carrier and it will be the almost the same as what you have now.

Ok I fixed my headache I just won a carrier and axle with sprocket and brake disc off of ebay. So I can stop worrying about that now.
