Carrier bearings

One on each side. The axle can be a huge pain to get out from the carrier sometimes though!

I recently replaced them.. It looked like there was 2 in there but we were not sure. Today it started making the same creaking sound when they went bad the first time! I read there is suppose to be a spacer in one side. would that make the difference?

any idea why it started making the same sound.. Could the spacer not being there, eat them up faster than normal?

yes I belive so. It was an old blaster just sitten around... I fixed up for myself... & I dont know anything about them

Try taking the brake caliper off and then spinning it and see if you get the same "squeaking". My truck pisses me off when the rear pads wear down and the whistlers start rubbing on the rotors...or if I get a little dust on the pads.

Did you heat the carrier with a heat gun and refrigerate the bearings before putting them in? Please tell me you didn't push them in by tapping with a hammer, you might have popped the center race and it is binding the bearings, or has cracked the ball retainer and the cracking you are hearing is the bearings trying to spin between the races.

My boyfriend put them in.. Never heard of putting them in a frezzer but yes.. we did just hammer them in there.. Thanks for the help!! going to try all this stuff tomorrow!

Heat the outter and it expands it a bit, cool the inner and it shrinks it a bit, they should just slide in a little easier. You will want to throw them in the freezer for about an hour, unless you have liquid nitrogen, then you can shrink them that way....lol...I doubt you have nitrogen. You should always do bearings this way.

Lots of help from the boyfriend & his dad! His dad rebuilt my motor... Havnt taken in on a good full ride yet cause of the cracking sounds.. The bike sat for a good 6 years

its not a squeaking sound im getting. its a cracking sound... like the bearings are going bad again..

check that the chain/spockets are good, and the carrier adjusted evenly on both sides
both of those can create the popping sound you hear
