Is there a difference? I thought no, but read somewhere the needles are different. I cant get this blaster to hit powerband. It seems like its running as well as it can off of the pilot jet, but hits a wall when the Main Jet should be kicking in, if the older models have a longer needle, I may have put one from an older quad into mine, which is an 05. So this could mean the needle is too long and not opening up the main jet? The quad has a Vitos K and N style air filter, bored to 66.5, has a PC silencer, stock pipe, Boyesen Carbon single-stage reeds, no airbox lid, is it possible it needs to go up a size on the main jet? Im thinking its something along these lines OR the e-brake sensor is malfunctioning and cutting spark at mid rpms.

Thanks!

I checked Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Accessories ? BikeBandit.com and there are different part numbers for a 2000 vs a 2003, but I wouldn't say there is definitely a difference. Even if there was, i can't see it making that big a diff in how it runs. They both still use a 230 main jet. Additionally, if you were cutting out on the main it wouldn't be a matter of hitting a wall. It would just sputter towards the top of the powerband. The smart money is still on the ebrake switch.

what main you running ??? and have you tried playing with the clip position

Yeah its a stock 230 Main Jet, I havent tried playing with the clip yet, I thought I just put it back in the stock position, but I suppose I may have changed it by accident, its been snowing every frickin day here in NY, so I havent been out to the garage to mess with it in a while. I think its the e-brake sensor so Ill start by unplugging that at the harness, I should have to cut the wires or anything should I? Splice them together?

Thanks.

search the diy section for e-brake removal, i dont have an 03+

I think you just answered your own question. With the mods you have on that Blaster, I'd say you need at least a 250 main jet to run well. It wouldn't hurt to go up to a 260 and see how the engine likes it in this cold weather.

Cutting is optional, all you need to do is unplug it. DON'T SPLICE THEM.

awesome, thanks man, thats the info I've been looking for, I did a TORS removal on an 01 then when I did the 05 I couldnt figure out why it wouldnt run, I didnt realize on the 05 the wires had to spliced together unlike the 01, so ive been wondering about the correct way to remove the ebrake sensor on the 05, since the TORS experience taught me not to assume I know what I am doing haha. Ill try that, and if it doesnt do it, I'll bump up the main jet and check my needle clip position.

Thanks.

with the no lid and other slight mods, you needa just stop tryin sh*t, and bump that main up and get the needle to the niddle clip, or you'll be on here asking piston questions, especially in this cold temps

i see, that was my thought originally, but another time a while back I asked about a similar blaster I had, no airbox lid, no-toil filter, 67mm bore, stock header, basically the same as this one just slightly bigger bore and no-toil instead of Vitos filter, and the general concensus was the stock jetting was sufficient. Just got more snow, so I havent even been able to test out the ebrake sensor idea yet, but will hopefully be able to do it later today, but I'll work on getting a larger main jet in the meantime

yes definitely try bumping up the main jet and try 3rd clip position.... When I was running a 270 and the temperature outside dropped, I started having problems hitting the powerband because i was running lean... switched to a 290 and 3rd clip and i got my powerband back... just needed some more gas...

3rd clip position (counted down from the top) is stock I believe. For winter you should probably be down 1 (Raises the needle and makes it richer) from center, maybe 2. My summer jetting is 30 pilot, one down from center on the clip and 260 main (main goes up 2 sizes for winter) with DG exhaust, Boysen Pro series carbon fiber reeds and open air box with K&N filter.

for my year 2nd clip position and 220 main are stock... i have no lid and fmf exhaust and silencer.... 3rd clip is right in the middle so i might try another step down to raise the needle a little more... thanks for the info I:I

Awesome, thanks for all the info, I knew the main jet could make a difference in running lean or running rich, but I didnt realize it could go as far as making the bike not even hit powerband, I am enlightened haha.
