I don"t know???????
Im putting new brake lines on the blaster, and i need some new brake fluid. On the way home i stopped at the bike shop to get some Bel-Ray Super DOT 4 and it was over $15.00 for a small bottle. I was like Hell no!!! So i stopped at advance auto to see if they had any DOT4, and they had some Valvoline SYNTHETIC DOT 3&4 $4.99.

Can i use or mix the Valvoline SYNTHETIC DOT 3&4 brake fluid in with the old Bel-Ray Super DOT 4?

Valvoline clams it Mixes well with conventional fluids! VVVVVVVV

i only run dot 3 in all my bikes and gsxr brake systems.
dot 4 only has a higher boiling point, required for high speed braking of 600lb. streetbikes stopping from 150+ mph.
our 300lb., 60+ mph blasters will never produce the speed and heat needed to require dot 4.
just my $.02

I have used the same valvoline brand with no issues at all and also the bel-ray.I have now moved on to the largest bottle of auto zone brake fluid dot 3&4 and no issues at all.NO difference that I have noticed between the three.I put it in,bleed it,and never look back.lol Use whatever is good on your budget.

I only ever buy the smallest amount of fluid I can.

Once opened and exposed to the atmosphere I consider what remains in the container contaminated and will not use it.

Here in South Africa, our minibus taxi drivers are known to use cooking oil in their brake systems. Apparently its thicker than proper fluid and so it doesnt leak out as fast when you have shot seals etc.

Water is also another common one here, but then again, so are things like cardboard brake pads, wooden pistons and vise grip steering wheels! NO JOKES!

Honestly, tho, I wouldnt think you would have a problem with mixing the fluid.

So when you pour a cup of coffe you must drink it down right away before it gets contaminated? Thats the oddest explanation I have ever heard. What in the atmosphere contaminates brake fluid from opening it? Do you drive your machines to the gas station and fill up? Cause if not once the can is open the fuel would be considered contaminated:D

I got the Valvoline SYNTHETIC DOT 3&4 brake fluid, and i saved over $10.00.

So now i got $10.00 dollars in my pocket. I'm gonna pop some tags! lol
