I made this cover on a 3 axis mill that I program/operate where i work. I am wondering what you guys think of it. I am heavily considering getting my own machine and making billet ATV parts to pay for the machine. Hypothetically would you buy one and how much would something like this run. Keep in mind there is a good amount of aluminum. Also give me any suggestions on design or other things. In a little bit I will start working on the clutch cover.

Thanks

Really cool. I would be interested, but I would not want the recessed fins in it. All I see those doing, is collecting dirt, and being a pain in the ass to clean. Not to mention more time in the mill. I'd rather have it without a logo, or a smaller logo as well. Just some thoughts for you. I would like one, and a clutch cover. You should make the clutch cover with provisions to remove just the clutch, have a separate plate on there, like the Hinson ones for the 250r and Banshee.

WOW that is an awsome peice and what a great job. Experiance really shows when you know how to use a mill. I will deff. take one if you plan on selling them. Id take a clutch cover also. PM if you could sell me one. Nice job again man!!

Thanks

whoa there does seem to be some interest! I would love to start making them, but if i went into production mode at work it would draw too much unwanted attention. If i get my own machine it will take a while for me to be up and running.

There was mention of the slotes being a possible problem, what about sloting with a ball nose mill that would give a shallow slote but would still have a design to it so it isn't blank, or mabye that is desirable. I just went with what first came to me.

There was also mention of making the clutch cover with a removable to access just the clutch. This would create another sealing surface, another hurdle but not impossible. Would a paper gasket surfice or would rubble o-ring be the best solution. Since the clutch is round and the whole could be round mabye an off the shelf round o-ring could be used.

As to the price, on ebay the lowest a new billet stator cover for a Banshee was $200, so $175 is the amout that comes to my mind. Also the Banshee one were made of multiple pieces, is that a good/bad thing.

That's nice...I think I would take one without the groves and just polish it out to a nice shine. As for the clutch cover they do that for the banshees and yfz450. The oring is the way they do it.

Maybe you could do one a week at work and they won't notice. lol Those machines aren't cheap....

can you see if you can use it after hours? kinda rent out the machine(s) after hours so not ot bother the companys productivity then you dont need to buy a machine, or that way you can make some money to buy one.

You use a ball nose, and it would be perfect. Im tryin to get my dad to make me one but government jobs take longer lol. If you had access to a machine you could make a killing. Like the throttle covers oil blockoff all easy to make on a mill.
