Banshee or YFZ450 What would you choose?

You got a buddy with everything huh, tell em to get off those hyosung 450's and get on a real 450 lol. You hit the throttle on a 450 and hope u still have yours arms when u let off. I would imagine a banshee would be faster on top end. If I wanted to go in a straight line I would prolly build a banshee but as far as trails and track its no comparison 450 hands down. While I know we are on a die hard 2 stroke forum I know opinions are biased towards a 2 stroke there is a reason people aren't racing them anymore.

Get on a good 450 and u will see the difference

You obviously don't have friends. ;)

I've ridden stock and modded YFZs, stock TRX450R, Can Am DS450, Outlaw 450, Outlaw 525 stock and modded. That's what I can think of off the top of my head in terms of "450s". Yamahas and Hondas are predominant in this area. You are hard pressed to see a Kawi, and Suzukis aren't too plentiful. Now when I go down to Wayne National, Haspen, or the dunes in Bichigan, you see anything and everything. I rebuilt my friends YFZ, rebuilt one of my friend's Banshees after he was an epic tard and thought running Toomey T5s and and 2 in 1 filter kit was fine on stock jetting. X(

brand new shee ???? year ???? canada ???
as much as i'd like the suspension and geometry of the new generation 450's,
a new shee would be hard to pass up, throw some works shocks on the front and have an awsome trail machine
prolly worth more in the end too, especially the way you take care of them !!!!

you can get bran new shees here , the 2011 colours are sweet looks like a rainbow!! lol

And your point is??? Sounds like every one of your buddies has quads is that your point lmao!!"

I guess it depends on what you want.
For strickly tight trail riding, your a woman, or old, the 450 would work.
If you listen to kids who believe what the magazines tell them then get the 450.
For my trails, power lines, train tracks, sand, Busco Beach, beating your friends, drag racing, the Banshee is better.
For mods the Shee has the biggest aftermarket of any quad.
Who the hells said a 450 is cheaper to build or is more reliable?
If I had a YFZ450 I'd sell the motor and put a banshee motor in it.
You wanted opinions and this is mine :D

Paulie Good post and thanks for taking the time time!

Your welcome brother.
Obviously I'm a 2 stroke fan!
I'm not ignorant though, around an MX track the 450 would shine.
I don't go on MX tracks or race professionally.
I've never ridden a trail with friends and stop watch either.

im not going to read all the pages to find out who said a yfz is more reliable...you show me a 450 that hasnt needed to be built in 8 years, and ill show you a quad that sat in a garage for 6...

Think about it like this too... they started making banshees in 1987 ish and stopped making banshees in 2006. Even the oldest models still bring upwards of $2,000.

Show me a 450 that in just 5 years will still bring more than $2,000 and I'll show you one that's sat in a garage for 5 years!

That sounds about right really.......they don't all have them now, but either at some point and time or they have a different quad. The guy I go out riding with the most is on his YFZ and it's his 4th quad then typically go out trail riding with groups of 5-10 people and it's not always the same people and they have all bought different quads too.

Meh....I get your point, but I don't see that. I see Shee's that are 2000+ models going for $1400 and they are perfectly fine. Even older YFZs are going for about $2500 based on what I've seen in my area at least.

Ya banshee aren't going for much anymore.

Seems that way. The ones that tend to hold resale value more are ones with "shiny" parts and "Custom" work like porting and stuff like that because others are scared of doing it. As long as it's a solid build and APPEARS nice, people will pay more.

As I was posting this I did a quick search on Craigslist. No clue what year, but this Shee looks like it's in great condition and it's only going for $1700.
YAMAHA BANSHEE
2001 Shee.......$1500
