well a yfz handls much better, but you can upgrade a banshee to be a decent ride too. and if one day if you wanna get 70hp outta a shee its reasonable. but it will cost a fortune to get that out of a yfz. in stock form i didnt like my banshee cuz i could never get traction and wanted to trad for a yfz. then i put on a arms and shocks and i cant keep the front on the ground. plus the hit of the banshee powerband really gives you tunnel vision when your givin'er
not really i seen banshees last a long time. it just comes down to how well you built it and the daily maintance that you do.
suspension parts for a banshee are actually cheaper than a yfz.
and right now i am rebuilding a yfz that needs a lower rod bearing, the guy it was bought off of said he got quoted $500ish to replace just the bearing. not cheap.
been looking on ebay, a 501cc kit is $750ish for a new jug, new piston and new crank.
it was $1400ish for the 501cc kit that came with the same stuff plus cams and valves.
that is where it can get costly.
if you break a valve on a new 4-stroke, they are not cheap. i think it is like $150 for just a single valve.
the other major difference between the two is the banshee is the easiest engine to work on. i mean, you can work on the tranny without every taking the top end off. and you really could swap out cranks without taking the top end off if you are good.
and i wonder how much that cost him to get that?
If u don't think a piped 450 doesnt "hit" like a piped banshee than I can honestly say you have never rode a 450. I rode just a stock 450r over the weekend and the power is just unreal. How do u figure the suspensions costs more for the yfz? Price a NEW sock for either bike and they are gonna be the same fox, Elka, works don't matter they will be the same new. Only way you will get shocks cheaper is to find works for the banshee off ebay because not many people run works on the yfz. If I had a choice it would be a new 450 hands down but that's just me and my type of riding. I ride alot of trails with some descent jumps and make it to the track when I can so the 450 would best suit me

No 450 will ever have a powerband hit like a banshee just like no banshee will never have the bottom end of a 450. I know a couple guys with some breathing work on Outlaws and YFZs and they are "top end", but comparing that to a banshee top end....specifically for a shee built/piped more for top end, it's no comparison. Shees like that feel like you just shot some nitrous through a regular bike halfway into the throttle. Bastards will slip the tires on dry pavement going through 4th gear on built ones.
your right,i have neve rode a 450. but ive ridden a raptor 660 and it had alot of torque, but didnt just take off. more of a steady tractor like pull, which is better for most types of riding and for beginers, but not as fun IMO.
I understand that but honestly answer what person would wanna race a built banshee over a built 450 on the track? Not many. Now put em in a straight line where suspension doesn't come into play I would build a banshee. That's what its made for going top end in a straight line. I would pick what im gonna be riding the most and what quad suits that conditions the best not because im a die hard 2 stroke fan
actually suspension matters in the drags. just matters differently.

I completely agree with you. Theres a reason that you dont see banshees on the track now adays. It works both ways, you get all these banshee guys that think nothing can touch their bikes, but how many have ridden 450s? On another note, if they were to bring their "untouchable" bikes to the track, they would get shut up real fast.
