I love my atv and ive always been in love with 2 strokes. It seems like a solid machine (frame wise) but i'm worried about the engine, ive already taken the motor out once. I want to know if i decided to rebuild it again, is the motor going to be reliable and work right? or am i just looking at a money pit? please somebody help me out i want to hear how u guys like ur blasters

so what do i want to do for jetting then? I dont have any big bore kits or a pipe or anything on it its bone stock. It was on its 3rd bore before i took out the connecting rod bearings. Do i just stay stock or what help me out

2 strokes are very reliable in my book, jetting is key, along with good oil and fuel being used and keeping a constant eye on your machine and what's going on with it, there is always a fault when a motor goes, very very very seldomly is it a mechanical failure freak of nature type deal and this fault is usually something that could have been either prevented or caught, 2 storkes are cheap to rebuild anyways so start modifyin that bad little blaster that's well over half the fun of owning a 2 stroke for me

2 strokes can live forever-multiple bores/hones etc. Just learn how to properly tune (jet) them make sure you know what to look for with problem areas lean/rich run conditions.

2 strokes by nature are a bit more tempermental but try and rebuild a 4 stroke for the cost of a 2 stroke-for ease, simplicity and cost- 2 smokes are the way to go.

jetting... id go 240 just for the slight bit extra..

oil... good oil... 32:1 premixed.. no other way!!

proper plug

clean air filter

clean carb,

change trans oil.. no need to go nuts like somepeople and change it ever 3-5 hours... but twice a year is just fine,

properly adjusted and lubed chain.. dont want a busted case!!

clean it wehn it gets muddy, wash the mudd of the motor the fins are key in cooling..

that about sums up keeping it alive...

oh yeah.. and dont reve it to the moon and hold it there!!

lol I think thats one of the problems i had with her last time i wound her up pretty good. Its really quick i kept up to my friends warrior like nothin i love that thing. I was debating on whether to get an hdtv or fix this thing but i definately think this is worth my time and money. so when i do get it runnin just plug up oil line on carb run 32:1 and check the jetting. this forum is great ive learned a ton already :)

you're gonna want to do a little more than just plugging up that port on the carb, I recommend completely removing the tank, lines and oil pump from the thing. a member here makes a block off plate for pretty reasonable to do the job for you.
