Just got my daughters blaster ported... Aggressive trail... How much did your jetting change afterwards? And how many sizes up or down did you have to go?

My builder recommended me running a 330 main to start but he said that is with a k&n clamp on... Well im not running a clamp on...

Im going to plug chop it, i was just curious as to how many sizes up or down you had to go...

factory 7 pipe
vforce3 reeds
stock carb
aggressive trail port
stock airbox with no lid
stock bore

i was running a 270 and just put in a 290 after the port.... Builder recommends a 330 with a k&n pod... well i hate those pods... I am going to plug chop it this weekend, but when i told him i was running a 290 he sighed.. lol but then i told him i wasnt going to run the pod, and he sighed again.. lol so he never really gave me a clear answer...

I am in the ballpark, so i dont really need numbers... Just curious as to how many sizes people ended up having to go up... I am new to these blasters and dont really know how aggressve an aggressive port job is..

It revs out nicely, just has a hesitation in the middle at half throttle.. then when you give it more gas, it pulls hard... The hesitation has got me thinking it is fat in the middle.. I have played with the clip, but i am still in the 2nd ride of the break in... I will plug chop it this weekend to make sure..

On my lt500 after a full aggressive dune port i went from a 320 to a 440 (12 Sizes)

On my banshee i went from a 340 to a 420 (8 sizes)

FYI if you dont like clamp on filters look on ebay for a CFM airbox they give you the flow of a clamp on but keep dirt and water out. with all the mods in my sig im running a 290 and center of the needle, talking to people said that the set up i have should run between a 330 and 290.

well i think that you should listen to the builder. with an open airbox you are basically running a pod filter. where i think you need to worry about jetting is in the pilot and needle areas. i would richen both of these circuits to lessen the chance of a partial throttle seize-- but this is me. i always try each circuit to make sure that i am jetted correctly for each throttle setting after major changes. i also think that if your plug chop shows a good color then the 330 is fine.

ended with a 340, needle on #2 position and a 27.5 pilot... perfect in my eyes...

was running too rich in the mid and it was confusing me cause i didnt want to go below middle (#3) on the needle for fear of it running to lean in the mid.

when it cools down a little more here i will probably run a 350, i will use the extra fuel/oil mix since this a dune only bike

i was listening to him, but all he would talk about is those sh*tty pods.. lol

when i would mention i was keeping the airbox, he would just sigh.. lol

so he never gave me a base for the airbox... with time and patience all things work out....

now i have got the blaster done, i have two more fresh motors with new port work that i get to jet.... lucky me!
