ok so my problem is i cant kick start my 01 blaster. i can catch it in gear and it starts right up then after that it will kick on first try, but if i let it sit over night it wont kick at all with out catching it in gear any ideas? ive cleaned the hell out of my carb, got good spark, good gas flow to carb, checked all the wiring and grounds?

pull out the spark plug and put your finger over the hole and have some one kick start it. You should feel a lot of compression. If it feels weak look at the reeds.Or are you talking about a kick start gear problem.

ok well i just tried a cold air compression test, i dunno if i did it wrong or if i have bad gauge but the test said i had zero compression. it would jump up to bout 30 while kickin and fall back to zero after kicking. i could feel air coming out the spark hole. the scary part is im able to push the kick start down with my thumb with some force. it was just running yesterday smooth as could be, i didn't drive it for more then 10 mins and herd nothing break or any problems?

im sorry but your finger is not a compresion tester.......
somethings wrong with you compresion tester it shoudlnt drop back down but being able to push it down with your thumb is i think a dead give away that your top ends shot

Your compression tester sounds broke to me, it should hold the pressure and build up after a few kicks, letting you read the pressure afterwards. The thumb over the hole test is ridiculously unaccurate. An engine with 30# would blow your thumb off the hole. You should have between 120 and 150 for a good running engine.

You need to get an actually compression tester and do it properly. From the way it sounds is that when the piston and cylinder is cold it's loose enough to cause low compression but after it has ran and warmed up it fights tighter and has enough compression to start and run normally. You could also check your reeds but from the sound of it it's low compression

ya thats the last thing i wanted to hear but o well lifes been going that way. any links or kits that has everything i would need? is this something i can do my self, ive turboed my own car and replaced everything but the crank pistons and valves on a car.

Wiesco make a piston kit that come with the piston and wrist pin. Usually it's a good idea to change the wrist pin bearing while your at it. As for changing it it's pretty easy 2 strokes are the easiest to rebuild because it's basically the pistion. Give the cylinder a good looking over to see if you will need it bored to the next size up or maybe get away with just a hone then measure for the size piston you need.

A finger would work find if you just want to know if there is any compression. If your reeds are good which I bet they are not then you can get a better compression tester to see if you have to do your top end or maybe you just have to tighten down your head with a TORQUE wrench... Could be a reed cage gasket.... i would look at them first...

Thanks guys for the help. I kust picked up another compression tester ill let you know what I find out

If you do rebuild take it to an engine shop have them measure the cylinder and tell you What size piston you need. Also have them check to make sure its still in round. And if that all checks out have them hone it while its in there... then buy the piston and rebuild kit

Ok so the new gauge reads 110psi with about 5 kicks I take it that's low? Is this low enough to make it not kick over

did you kick til the gauge stoped moving i need to kick mine like 15-20 times sometimes to get a full reading and it should run on 110 i would get it checked out and if you can have the cylinder honed and new rings!
