Ok so I did a plug chop last night and Im far from an expert on reading these things, whats everyone's thoughts.

As a side note, the bike is a fresh rebuild, no airleaks, 30mm OKO using 165 main. Bike seems to idle good, have good power but lacks upper RPMS, runs good to a point then just stops gaining speed.

Current temp here is about 30* here too.

TIA

I think you grinded the part where the ring was at. If not pretty lean on the main.

BTW- please send that sweet sexy avatar chick to my house so i can pour my molsons all over her and lick it off!

I didint see the ring either and thats part of the reason why I wasn't sure what I was looking at. As far as the procedure for the plug chop, yes I did it right. WOT and killed the engine while at WOT while in gear. I don't think I ground off the ring cuz the ring should be on the taper'd part of the insulator and I was nowhere near there.

As for the avatar -- yeah she's pretty damn nice. Id love to get me some of that canadian maple syrup....

u were wide open 6th gear right? just try it again and post up another pic but it looks rich to me

Yeah--ok Ill do it again and post another but yes WOT in 6th. My thoughts were it was abit rich too but Ill do the chop again to be sure and then I repost.

Yes you are correct, the ring should be right at the base of the taper-I say go up two sizes on the main. Re-post. That looks like possible you didn't hold the throttle wide open after you killed the engine and coast to a stop or didn't hold it WOT in at least fifth gear long enough, like 10 seconds.

Ya there should be a ring. Here is a pic of a plug with the ring.
I also attached a doc on how to read your plug. From what I have been told you are not going to get a brown ring with the new unleaded fuels. I am told if you do the plug chop right, then you are looking for a black ring that is about 1mm think then your main is correct.

Ok fellerz' herez the scoop. I decided to go about this tuning thing slightly different then normal. I had an LM1 already for my car and its tuned so I decided what the hey might as well try it on the blastys. I bought this adapter thing from Koso for 2s so it wont fry the 02 as quick. Welds aren't the greatest since the location was a bit awkward but it'll do. See pics below.

Anyways my plan is to still do the plug chop and Im gonna datalog the AFR so we'll have some idea where they like to run at. Im gonna shoot for 12-12.5:1 for now to be safe. Then Ill do a chop and see what the ring looks like on the plug.

interesting stuff, keep us posted on your results !!!!!!

I was trying to figure out where that was plugged into , the exhuast duh! , Cool, I'm curious to see results also!

ive always wondered about tuning by means of AFR...I dont have my own ans so ive never done it..they quite pricey! my car is setup up with one too and an economical mix there is about 14:1, so 12:1 should be good.

One thing that concerns me is the oil in a 2T, wont this interfere with the readings and make the AFR guage pick up on false richeness? you know, the smoke and spooge will make it read rich when the air fuel mix is not really..? I dont know, just a thought, but id investigate it further if I were you just to be sure they work on two strokes

I did do alot of reading prior to coming to this solution. From what Ive been reading ( very little on the subject ) it will work but the 2s exhaust tends to where out the o2 sensor quickly. That is why I bought the KOSO adapter. It actually pulls the sensor out of the direct path of the oil vapor and allows the o2 to sniff as it should without being compromised.

Can I guarantee it will work -- no becuz I haven't tried it ( that'll be tomorrow ) but it's worth a shot. If it works as intended I should be able to really dial in the different throttle positions. I:I
