Hey guys, im about to buy a 1999 blaster, nothing on it at all is stock..it has everything racing, my only concern is, is that the guy said the motor is a "240 stoker motor" iv heard of vitos 240 big bore kits and stuff and iv seen what they look like... but a 240 stroker?? do they make those? im not sure if the guy is lying to me or not but the engine (block and head) look stock..

So im asking you guys if there is anything such as a 240 stroker motor for a blaster... this guy has everything on this thing racing, from the plastics to the swing arm, to the wheels and exhaust.. im just wondering if hes lying about the motor being a "stroker" or if they even make such thing.. Like i said it looks stock to me which is why i have the concern...He has no receipts or anything either... thanks

you can make a 200 blaster a stroker, all it is, is the crank is longer makin the "stroke" of the motor different, hence makin it a stroker...so no he's not lying...

ok i understand that you can put in a different crank to make the stroke larger..but if the stroke were larger wouldnt the head have to be different? wouldnt the piston smack the top of the head if you changed the stroke and not the top end as well?

and the spacer goes between the jug and the bottom end. it'll be pretty easy to spot.

you'll have to ask if it has a 240 kit and a stroker crank

The stroker spacer plate is between the green and blue gaskets...

ok, i got you guys thanks.. So if i do not see the spacer/plate inbetween then its not a 240 stroker?

Also, does stroking it to a 240 give it the same amount of power as to bore it to a 240?? Iv always wonderd that... is it the same? but just different? lol

Like i said the head looked stock, thats why i thought he was lying but now that u guys mention the plate..i never looked for that.

i dont like where this is going... a 240 kit is something you buy, like a vitos or ct or airsal. you dont stroke a motor to get it to a 240... im starting to think its only been bored .40 over and he is saying its a 240, i woudl be cautious with this deal

Here are a few pix of what it looks like... Let me know what you guys think. And what you think its worth.

All i know about it is that its 99 yamaha blaster with a 240 stroker motor, lrd exhaust, racing plastics, and a 40mm carb so far... but obviously it has alot more done to it..

looks decent, with a lrd exhaust that gives a little more proff that the engine is worked. noone would put a nice exhaust like that on a weak engine. if the motor is a true stroked 240 and it runs good and all that i could see paying no more than 2000 and even that is a bit high.

Yah, see the deal is, is that the kid im talking to got this from a kid who owed him money.. So the kid who currently owns it did not build it and is only going off of what the guy told him when he got it..

This is why he only knows the information that i told you guys.. Obviously this thing has alot done to it, like i said my only concern was the motor being lagitly a "240 stroker"

Supposedly i guess the kid used to do ice racing?? ha

Also, if it was truely a storker motor... dont you think the guy would most deffenetly have put on aftermarket reeds/cage?!

Cuz thats one more thing i will look for when i see it.

yeha it looks like it has had some work done to it but by no means is it worked big time. can you get a few close ups of the engine? what are you paying for this machine?

The absolute best way to build a stroker motor is to not use a spacer plate but to have the head cut to allow the increase stroke and cylinder ported to correct the port timing for the stroker crank.

The spacer plate allows the long throw but the porting is thrown off a little bit. The advantage is it's a throw and go. To get the head/cylinder set up properly without using the spacer plate the entire engine has to go to a porter to have it all cut in. Also, the down side is that once you cut the head and ports for the stroker you cannot go back... it's that way forever.

The only way to tell exactly what's been done to the engine is to get inside it and measure. Considering it looks fairly complete at this stage you probably won't want to pull it apart simply to confirm what work has been done to it...

The other mods done to it lend some credability to the fact that the original owner dropped some coin and got it really nice.

It is set up really low and wide like it was used for some sort of racing. If it was used for racing it probably has the engine mods he says it does. Even if it doesn't... you won't know the difference until it comes time to rebuild it anyway. As long as it runs like a raped ape, RIP IT!

I just talked to the kid, im going to get some close up pix of the bay later today when he gets out of work.. i will post them up asap.

opinions vary on the spacer plate, we had a littel group discussion with flotek down at busco about them. in short what he was saying is that in his builds he likes to use one just not the one that comes from vitos.
