1990 yamaha blaster project, dunes bike

Hey, we ride all over the Oregon coast, majority of our trips are to Florence or sand lake, we make sure to hit cos bay and winchester bay at least once a summer, I got a little set back tho, the nut that holds the stator in is stripped and the bolt it goes onto is stripped, the sang crank I just got might be comming out! I'm so close to starting this thing and doing some tests, then this happens

it's probably possible to re-thread that stripped end to the next smaller size or american thread and put a new nut to match on there ?
don't forget the thick washer that is needed on that side

That's what I was thinking, I called a bike shop here in Portland Oregon and they guy told me that if its stripped its stripped and time for a new crank, he said it would throw the crank off balance.and the bike wouldn't run correctly, think he was just trying to sell me parts?

I dnt, were making a trip down to sand lake in the middle of next month, maybe ill see ya there, u got a number?

Hey does anyone kno the tourc specs for the head bolts? Not the top top bolts but the 4 that are the cylinder area, And is there a tourc spec for the magnito, stator nut?

Huge update and need major help!!

About 30 mins ago I finaly got my nut on the crank and the threads look good, I put it back together, put gas n and kick it for 5 mins, nothing, so I look for spark, no spark! Then my gf comes out and goes well dnt u need a key,
I feel so stupid lol but I called the guy I got this frustrating project from
He says oh I never needed a key but try bipassing the ignition!
If I remember he told me when I got the bike it had a 240 kit
It dnt so I dnt think dude knows what he's talking about

Please help explain what to do, ignition bypass???
I tried using a screw driver and that was dumb of me
Thank you guys for helping me get where I'm at so far

So I figured the ignition problem out,
This morning my uncle came over and did a leak down test, no leaks!
Bike starts first kick, had a hard time idleing on its own for about 30 seconds, I let it sit and warm up for ten minutes, then I killed it. I let it cool down, a hour later I started it again,,, first kick and idled on its own, ten mins later,,, I putted it down my long gravel drive way, turn around go back,, just putting. I get back to my front yard and I'm leaking gear oil every where, I fallowed the gear oil line and half way down the drive way is were it starts, I lost my drain plug, not the bitten drain plug but the side drain plug,,, I thought it only had one so I guess I didn't tighten it down

Good news tho, bike runs yay, pics on way

Wish I could post a video, I feel like I hear a knock while the blaster idles, I took the reeds out so I could see the piston and the rod. The piston feels snug I slowly pushed down the kick start so I could see how snug it feels threw out the cylinder and it feels snug, the rod moves side to side and when I jiggle the rod it makes the noise I think I'm hearing at idle! Is this normal? I dnt wanna.hit powerband for the 1st time and cause more damage then if I catch the problem early,

here is a couple pics

blasters are notoriously loud, and some confuse that for a knock, a vid with sound would help us determine if it's the usual "blaster knock" or worse

btw...bikes lookin good, kudos for doing the leakdown test,
and....what side drain plug ???

Thank you, its a side drain plug for the gear oil, when I posted the pics I was gunna post the video I made, but for some reason the video had no sound on the computer

Looks like the motors comming apart! I woke up this morning went to the garage and gear oil is everywere. I pin pointed it to the home made crank case gaskit, while the motors apart ima be asking tones of questions and am gunna start a new thread, thanx everyone for there help so far
