I've been looking around the web trying to find pics of the 12 port sleeve to make sure thats what i have. I am only counting 10 ports in my sleeve. Its cheaper here in town to have it resleeved then bored to the next size. Anyway anyone know where i can find pics. or am i not counting correctly or missing something.
Please bare with me this is my first 2 stroke ..if it were a street bike 600cc 1000cc i wouldnt have any problems putting it back together lol

Thanks a bunch for most of you replying to the questions with a logical answer :) reallly like this forum a bunch!
Thanks
Old man Russ lol

the 12 ports consist of-----5 intake ports,2 transfers on each side X2, and triple exhaust ports......5 intake+4 transfer+3 exhaust= 12 ports. most sleeves are not going to have triple exhaust and the 2 extra intake ports(boost ports) can be machined into any jug(carefully). are you re-sleeving a 240 or just a std. blaster jug? and are you saying that its cheaper to have it re-sleeved then to just bore to the next usable size? sleeving usually runs 150-175 and boring should only be like 60 bucks

something is not right, resleeved should be alot more$ than a bore.

Thats what i thought. I went to the machine shop here is how he broke the costs down. 60 to bore it cause the amount of setup time.. 40 to resleeve it ..press out and press in the new sleeve and done.. When i built another motor it was about 100+ to resleeve it.. so i was struck by the price.

Ummmmm, I don't think the sleeve can be pressed out of these jugs. I think the aluminum would collapse before the steel let loose.

They have to "sweat" them in using dry ice and an oven with a few thousands press fit to keep them there.

Not all BBK's are the vito's 12 port design. I have a 72mm cylinder sitting on the shelf that is a 10 port BBK overbore of a factory aluminum cylinder. It still has 197cc's cast in the side of it but it's a 72mm cylinder. The new vito's kit is the 12 port all new casting cylinder. You remove yours and set it on the shelf and then bolt the all new components on.

yeah man. i've never heard of pressing out an old cylinder it has to be bored out. that scary that people like that call themselves machinists.

it doesnt suprise me this is a machine shop that is part of a car dealer ship. I found another small engine machinist here in town that i heard is really good and has very reasonable rates... im thinking best bet so far is to get this thing bored out to 72.5 get the bigger piton and put this thing together and call it a day! lol

take it to the bike shop period. you need to find out exactly what size piston you need, then get the piston then have it bored and honed TO THAT PISTON, all pistons vary slightly, the final hone sets itup for the piston.

and feel fortunate that you're only doing 1 cylinder........doing a v8 and blueprinting it the right way takes forever.....

that is not a stock casting with a fancy sleeve pressed in ,actually you have the Vitos 240 kit jug

Good to know. on the side of my jug its stamped 197cc. Therefor i knew either A: the stock jug was bored out and a sleeve pressed in or B: it came with the kit. either way still deciding weather to just sleeve it or bore it out to the next size of 72.5

If the machinist installing your sleeve doesn't know this procedure by heart, give him a copy of this, let him practice for a couple of years, then bring your cylinder back. He may get it right.
