So who out here is running a yfz rear. I have one that was modded for a blaster and revalved by gtthunder. The top bolt has been turned down and has spacer so it goes through perfect but now has play. I'm curious if this shock needs some play at top and if so how much and if anyone knows whether the size is same as say 400,450,ltz, as in would oconnor bushings work to take up play?

When you lift the back of the bike by the grab bar does it make a clicking sound? For mine i made what i call a tapered bolt but i made it by hand. Maybe pm ken to see if he has what you need.

Ok, this might help, the first pic is of the turned down blaster bolt (made by 442), on the nut side that is a slide on bushing. the yfz's actual bushing sits in the middle but the shock slides back and forth on to bolt. the second pic shows the amount of on each side that it moves.

and yes the bolt goes in to center shock just was taking quick pic

I could just have some made pretty easy just would be easier if others will work. I know some shocks actually need some wiggle room though so don't wannna take chances.

It's not together enough to do your test, what is the clicking sound issue?

GREENZ!!!!!!!! for the idea. I like it, I went with Ken's bushing kit because I don't have a lathe but this is also an elegant solution!

Yea it works good I didnt make it though and am worried about slack hence the thread, but I'm thinking now i could just get some spacers for each side to take it up. that fit over the balready made bolt

I guess the real question to this thread should be how much wiggle room is allowable or is it made to be snug?

I never said I made I just said it had been turned down but I didn't get greenz anyway my sh*t's the same. I wouldve said something .... and yes it's 442's old shock and is sick he also did the polish job etc.... I already gave him some rep for it or i'd give him more Don't worry 442 I edited it, so theres no confusion who's idea I'm not keen on taking credit for others work.

I got it, washers would've worked but they weren't snug enough.
I cut some spacers to size then drilled em out a tad larger to fit snug over the bushing/bolt. Result is this now
Now it just has the little play that's normal from the yfz bushing
