Wont Start Without Starting Fluid

Ok.... I just got done kicking my balls off! My Blaster won't kickstart, I spray a shot of "nose candy" aka starting fluid and it fires and runs first kick! I got the idle adjusted ok, new spark plug, just cleaned the carb, reeds checked out ok, no tors....I shut it off after running and it wont kickstart on its own, but it will start everytime with fluid, is there something I can adjust? Something I am missing? I have searched with no answer.

i wouldn't keep using starting fluid to start it. i would clean your carb really good. maybe you need to adjust your airscrew , how is your compression..

Yeah I dont want to use Starting Fluid anymore! I cleaned out the carb and put it back. My compression is good, I havent offically tested it but my finger wont stay on the spark plug hole when kicked. Stupid question I am new to blasters SO where is the air to fuel screw? I must be blind lol

its the flat head on the carb. the idle is on the top of the TORS box. are you sure your blaster is getting gas. how old is the gas. do you pre-mix? if so whats your ratio?

yeah, djack12 has got all your problems right there, you're air screw should be about 1.5 turns out from all the way in if i'm correct

Ok, I am getting fuel for sure, No oil injection so, I drained the tank and put in 32:1 when I bought it, plug is nice mocha brown and wet. I know about the idle screw under the seat, but is there an air/fuel screw? or is it the same as the idle screw? I dont have anything on my carb but the jet and the choke!

its there. trust me. can you get me a picture of your carb and i will show you. maybe your missing the screw and thats your whole problem.

is it a stock carb? most carbs have the air/fuel screw on the left side (if you on the quad) its a flat head screw......

well think about it. a huge hole in your carb. thats not going to run well or at all.

Oh yeah, it's very true! My dad has a kfx700 and his kept running like crap in the front cylinder and come to find out, somebody at the shop he took it to, lost the spring for the air fuel screw, and lodged it all the way up in there, so we had to tap it out carefully and put those new screws on that are longer and you can mount other places, really cool design. worked well since. haha

Sorry for my ignorance guys, I think I found what I was looking for, is it the pilot jet? It says idle jet in this manual I just found, will adjusting that make a difference?

Possibly! You should have that, your choke, and and air/fuel mixture screw, probably the one closest to the air boot going to the box i believe

Just to clarify myself, is the screw the screwdriver is touching the air/fuel screw? Thats all I need!

yes thats the one. guess my idea was not the problem. the pilot jet in inside the carb. what is your needle clip positin and if you pilot jet clean?

Yep! That'd be the one! Try it at 1.5-2 turns out, from all the way in, and somewhere right in there should be good for running it. That's where i've got it set on my stock one, and on my other one i've got it about 1.75 turns out.

I had a simular problem last yr.. The bike would barely start then immediately die. I was like what the hell? Checked for clogged intake & exhaust, checked the main and pilot jet, cleaned the carb... still wouldn't work.

Finally.. I just happen to remove the cap and go to look at the needle... well the needle just falls right out. Bingo... the clip that holds the needle position had fallen off the needle. So the needle would just sit in the main jet not letting any gas though.

haha, man that sucks about the needle. i've never seen that. haha, At least it wasn't anything big. I broke a jet off in there the other day, it made me pretty mad because i thought i might have cross threaded it, so i just gently backed it out, turns out the jet was just a piece of junk, i took it in and got another for free and went in without a problem. but then for some reason i didn't tighten it enough for fear i'd break another, and it ended up coming off and bouncin around inside my float bowl. haha
