Need to rebuild bottom end on blaster. How are these wiseco crank kits. I read somewere wiseco cranks are not so great. How is the reliability. Seems pretty cheap.
Thanks

someone posted a youtube vid of a guy using bench centers to show that a wiseco crank he got was all messed up, i dont think it was a blaster though. im sure tons of guys have em and are happy but if you can spend a little more a hot rods or vitos would be better.

Ha, yep that was the vid I just watched witch inspired this post its a small world. So if I dont go with wiseco what is a reliable brand. Do any other brands offer a kit. Its very suprising to me how cheap blaster parts are.

DO NOT GET THE WISECO CRANK!!! they are made in china and my buddy ran a wiseco crank this year in his '08 yz250 and the rod snapped, wrecking the crankcases, cylinder, and vforce reed. just get your japan made yamaha crank rebuilt, w/oem components, for all out reliability. if you really are set on an aftermarket crank, then either hot rods or vitos.

i would also like to add that if you are getting a crank why not get a stroker crank? you should get your cylinder ported to match wich is more money but daaaaamn they can make some power.

Yes sir stroker crank my thoughts exactly. If I go with the +4 crank what has to be done to engine to fit it in. I read somewere the cases have to be trenched but on the hot rods web site it says the head has to be machined 2mm for the increased stroke. I am confused.

hmmm, ive always heard that with the +4 you need to get the cases trenched. thats why i went with the vitos, no trenching.

yeah, the vitos is a +3..

you still need to check it clears the corners of the crank case.. u need to put the crank in, put piston on and put the cylinder on with only half the crank case on and make sure the rod clears the corners of the cases as the rod now traces a different path.. I read about it on the vitos website if I remember right? but the modification is easy... Those barbarians reccomend a grinder.. but yeah, no case boring for the vitos +3!
