Widening kit, any good?

How are the diamond widening kits with yfz 450 shocks? Will the ball joints wear out prematurely? Is it better to just put on +3 arms?

The short answer is, the widening kit does exactly what it says it does.... it widens the quad.

The long answer is, it's SOOOO much better to get a real upgraded suspension setup than the widening kit.

There are many posts on the subject but I'll cover a few of the points here.... The widening kit moves the pivot points of the stock suspension farther away from the pivot point of the tie rod increasing bumpsteer.

The widening kit doesn't actually afford you ANY more travel, it only changes where that travel takes place.

The widening kit doesn't replace the factory weld-in ball joints to a removable style like aftermarket a-arms do.

The kit works well with yfz 450 shocks, but it is a good idea to get the lowering kit as well as the yfz 450 shocks are longer.

I use the kit on the sons bike and am happy with it.

The bonus with the kit is that it allows you to choose from a few different widths, and can be modified to run different camber angles, very useful for loose dirt riding.

If you are never going to need to change anything but your camber, then go with the +3 arms.
