why is the 88-02 blaster headlight 12 volt 45 watt but the 03-06 is 12 volt 35 watt? also is it ok to put a lower wattage bulb in the headlight?

Using lower wattage is fine, but you don't want to use higher wattage. I believe using a higher watt bulb will result in less power to the rest of the machine, which I assume could result in less/lower spark

Because of the 03+ plastic lens design, a higher watt buld would tend to cause heat distortion if ran for long period of time.

Using a higher wattage bulb will demand more power than the lighting system can produce,.

The lighting coil will work overtime trying to prodce extra power and may fail.

The ignition system will not be affected as it uses an entirly different and seperate coil.
