who thinks this is a good trade?

Amen to that gonna get cometic seals on payday im sure that's why it wouldn't rev its a bad enough leak that air goes out faster than you can put it in

I didnt know cometic made seals? I thought only gaskets...

Heres the one i got
Tusk Engine Oil Seal Kit | ATV | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

I didnt use them all, didnt take off the shift shaft etc.

Word of warning, they are a pain in the @$$ to get out... I put two screws in the seal, and pull with all i could until it hurt... Took me an hour to get the stator one out.

Just make sure you clean the spot where the seals go

Nice blasty Harley, don't mean to hijack the thread but why are blasters so prone to air leaks? I've rarely gotten air leaks on any of my other 2ts, and I've owned a dozen of em.

The major problem with air leaks on a two stroke engine is usually the operator over cranking the reed cage and boot and warping them.

Over tightening bolts will lead to leakage problems, gaskets get squished beyond their limits and will leak.

Leakage will also occur if the bolts are not tightened diagonally and incrementally, and should be treated the same way when being loosened.

If a crank seal has been installed correctly and lubricated they will last for many hours.

i think cuz they are cheap to buy and own, and usually owned by people who dont know or care enough pluse they get beaten worst then they should, and i think not being water cooled, the heat leads to a little less life in the seals too.

I think you're right cause all of the other 2 strokes I've owned are water cooled.

Never owned a anything than an air cooled machine and never yet had to replace any crank seals other than in rebuilds.

May I add that is in any of the strokers that I have owned and ridden, other peoples, well a different story, overheating tends to wreak havoc on seals.

Jet it right and seals will be kind to you.
