Who has used a DG exhaust system?

I'm always reading how the DG exhaust systems are no better than stock or even worse than stock. I got a DG with the 04 when I bought it. I put it on the 01, just to try it. I noticed an improvement when I put it on. Later when cleaning the air filter I ended up tearing it and replaced it with the K&N that came on the 04 (I don't like K&N but it's what I had). Since I was changing air filters, I knew I'd have to rejet, so I just left the lid off. I noticed a huge improvement in power all the way through. A couple weeks later I got a good deal on an FMF and bought it. From what I had read I expected another big improvement but it wasn't there. Thinking my jetting was off, I did a plug chop and found it to be a bit richer (slightly darker but plenty close enough). It being a used exhaust, I suspected a partial clog. I blew through the pipe with the air hose but it didn't seem to have any restriction. I tapped around on the pipe to see if it felt like build up somewhere on the inside but it sounded the same everywhere. I didn't go into my silencer, it didn't seem to be unusably heavy, so I did think it was oil soaked. Without finding anything wrong and just for piece of mind, I put the DG back on and the performance was simple better than with the FMF. Deciding that I would stay with the DG, I wanted to refinish it. I bought some hi temp paint and took it off again to paint it. I put the FMF back on one final time while I was painting the DG and rode it a bit around the house and plan and simple, the FMF does not make the power on my engine that the DG does. So I'm asking, how many people have ran a DG back to back to another exhaust system and how many are going on what they have read or assumed by things like DG not wanting their exhaust tested against other systems? I'm not saying the DG is a great pipe and I'm certainly not saying it's the best. I would like to get a Pro Circuit and try it against the DG. Fully expecting the PC to blow it away. And I'm not going to even put a DG in the same class as the right bends but for me, back to back, it has done much better than popular opinion would suggest.

I run an fmf on my bike a friend of mine runs a stock exhaust and on his other blaster runs a DG.

The people that suggest that the stock is an improvment over DG obviously are speaking of no expierence. Very annoying how people spread what they dont know.

when eyeing up the fmf beside the DG its not hard to notice how they were designed. the Dg expansion is abit thinner tappers out and in sharp with a long stingerpipe. the fmf is more fatt at the expansion and slowly tapers in with a shorter stinger. the fmf is a wide range pipe designed for a "fat" midrange powerband. The DG believe it or not is designed for a higher rpm with abit of a weak midrange and late powerband.

the stock pipe is quite tame throughout alll rpms, gives alittle torque burst at around midrange but maxs out quick. The DG gives the same midrange burst but will end up pulling much harder at high rpm then the stock ever will.

I feel on all the bikes that I have ridden that have had a DG, they are pretty good, it just depends on how you ride and what kind of rpms and powerband you want...

ya i can tell a diffrence when it is burning if you look in the pipe yuo can see the carbon peeling off the inside the pipe
