like greesing chain changing oils and what not what should be done and how often to keep atv in tip top shape?
lets not forget the basics; a fresh plug is NICE! making sure your coil wire isnt getting old and your boot isnt leaking is NICE! draining the fuel tank and cleaning your petcock once a season is NICE! be nice to your Blasty and, it will sh*t on you and leave you walking! (sorry guys, im a realist!)
i have a KN air filter how would i go about cleaning that and what type of lube and where can i buy it for the chain and cables? There are few things to use as a rule of thumb.
2 times a year, lube the cables, up, buy the chain and cable one.
always check crankcase oil and replace after 3 to 5 tanks of use.
greese fittings about the same every 3 to 5 tanks of gas, but dont overfill and pop the seals.
dont use your 2cycle oil for years, if you using the injection. replace the oil in it every year.
drain the float bowl at the end of season, before storage and a tea spoon of oil in the cylinder for storage.
depending on where you ride at or how dirty or dusty. you may want to clean the air filter after each ride and re-oil. stick with what type of filter you have. Meaning that different air filters, use different cleaners.
some are just rince and light soap, some use a spray can type cleaner. the same for oils, some are red in a tube you apply or spray on.
Well for the chain, you have to get some good chain lube, I use Liquid Wrench and it works great. As for the air filter, it depends on what kind you have, for a K&N you need the filter cleaning kit. You have to wash the fliter out with soap and water and rinse it out real good, then let it dry over night or something. DO NOT USE compressed air it will screw up the filter. Once its dry spray it with the K&N filter oil and then your done!As for the grease fittings, there is one on each top A Arm, two on each bottom A Arm, and one on the steering stem. I use Marine and Off Road grease
I will add though, when it does throw off onto the bike, it is a mongrel to wash off.
