Do u have a harbor freight store near u? They got some pretty good deals. My buddy is a welder he said the stuff they sell is pretty reliable for the money.

I'm probably going to buy one there or a used one on cl.

I like the idea of building a scratch start Tig welder from scratch.

You'll need a air cooled tig torch, a deep cycle marine battery, a solenoid for argon flow control, a pair of jumper cables, and an argon bottle and regulator.
