hey guys long time reader but never really posted because most of the answers are allready here. But this time i am at a loss. 94 blaster is using crank case oil and puffing white smoke. I read up and thought it was the crank seals. just installed both sides with cometic seals. I started it up and within 2 minutes idleing it used half of the site window. When trying to rev the motor it spits and pops. Any help for me guys.

you could be leaking in between the cases.

a leakdown is in order for sure, DO NOT run it how it is.

how much oil are you adding to the transmission?

im not adding much just have to top it off. how do you fix a leak between the cases. is that a split the cases and reseal job. im not leaking any oil either which is confusing to me.as to a case leak.

Brando is right. The leak is inside usually up by the balancer gear. A air leak test will tell u more.

wait are you saying you fill it all the way up with crankcase oil becuase thats bad

yep might as well do a full rebuild while you are there. but don't let the while you are there get away from you. i would do crank bearings (possibly crank if it has any play) and all new seals. Leave it a that or your wallet will start hurting. and don't be so touchy about that oil question. he doesn't know you any more than you know him and there are a lot of people on here who "just don't know anything" it was an honest question to ask

ok i figured it needed a case split and why not a full rebuild while im in there. I got you about the oil question. I am a certified transmission mechanic, just have never built a 2 stroke bottom end.

You'll need a flywheel puller, gasket set, rings(or possibly a bore, hone, piston, and rings), and some yamabond 5.

Under the "general support" section there is a yamaha service manual to walk you through the steps.

are you putting in the 650cc(ml) as it says on the side to begin with?

as its running, you won't be able to see the oil in the window
