Lost it, looking to buy something from a hardware store to get me through the weekend. Anyone know the size? I have a M12 bolt but that was way to big. It looks like a M6 or M8. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance!

Make sure you purchase a short enough bolt to do the job, a drain bolt too long can interfere with the operation of the transmission shift drum.

Otherwise, a M10 drain bolt from any auto parts store should work well. A regular M10 bolt shortened with a gasket under it would work in a pinch.

I tried the M10 bolt and it was too small, it just slid right in and out of the hole without engaging the threads. It must be a M12 bolt.

I tried a couple of M12 bolts from the hardware store (1.75 and 1.5 pitch) but neither would thread in, I assume it must be a 1.25 pitch?

I just called around and an autoparts store has a M12x1.25x25mm length, I guess I could use that with a fat stack of washers. Anyone know if this is the right pitch, or is the pitch 1.0?

TIA!

IT is a M10 X1.25. Stated in the manual. Your threads are stripped, probably why you lost it. I have used helicoil to fix mine and have had no problems.

It SHOULD be a M10 x 1.25 (fine thread) UNLESS someone overtapped it for an oversize bolt. You may need to take the 4 wheeler up to a hardware store and hand the clerk $5 and start taking different sized bolts out to figure out which size you need (if the threads are clear and straight).

If the threads are boogered, slick is right, they're stripped. Something will have to be done about it (either an oversized drain bolt, a helicoil, or a timesert).
