I want to get a set of nerf bars, but I'm not sure if they are ok for my type of riding. I ride trails, but i have to cross railroad tracks. Can you get over railroad tracks easily with nerfs? Also, what color/brand should I get. I was thinking black with blue nets. I would only want to spend around $100.

They are good for trails. Catch rocks and stuff that normally hit you in the shin. I've had a log get stuck in mine that probably would have broke my foot or close to it. I'd definitely recommend it.

Why do you think you'd have trouble crossing tracks? It won't lower your ground clearance at all. They rest even with your frame. I have hopped many of railroad tracks with mine I:I

As for brand, I have DG. Never bent (been through hell and back) and seem sturdy, but that's all I can account for. I'm sure pretty much all other brands are the same. Have fun!

I see a lot of riders with nerfs, but I'm not sure of there value yet because I've never ridden with them. However, they seem way over priced for what they are, just like the bumpers, cooler racks, & skid plates. This sh*t sells for twice what it should, in my opinion, and should be sold for no more than $50.

Depends on what kind you get. If you think it's cheap, you can always make your own. ;)

I can justify the price of a lot of nerfs. Grab bars on the other hand are pretty ridiculous. 8-|
