Trying to install tie rods and can't get the castle nut to thread on because the threads them self are spinning with the nut. I'm having the same problem with one of the lower ball joints too. Is there a trick to this? I tried an impact gun and still didn't work.

i like to get the nut started, tap the rod tight into the spindle taper,
put a wrench on the adjusting flat spot of the rod itself, pry the tie rod sideways to jamb the rod in the joint, then hit it with a socket on my battery drill (airtools would prolly be better)
the key is to get the nut spinning faster than the shaft of the tierod/balljoint can, while jambed

Can you get it off, you may have to clean up the threads.

Impact gun often defeats the purpose as the jarring often wants to make the shaft want to turn.

Try putting pressure on and then try to get the nut off by gently turning with a wrench.

Do not attempt to put it on, it will only make it worse.
