N.Y
I am posting this thread to give atention to this issue and the seriousnes of it. Being as we all share the love of being outdoors. We are most prone to these nasty little things. Specificaly folks who live in southern N.Y and surounding areas along with North eastern P.A and a few other hot spot areas. (you can look up the high risk areas online). I have been dealing with these nasty bugs for a long time and always check myself and children when we come back indoors (we do the tick check). I always treat the lawn and we always use tick/bug repelant. Long story short one got me good the weekend before and i am nowbeing treated for Lymes disease. Big bullseye rash, headaches, arthritis, etc..The medicine itself makes me sick also. So please, anyone outdoors please check yourself, yourfam, and your friends for these nasty things. Use a tick repelant and if bitten go as quick to a.dr as possoble

Damn man that sucks, sorry to hear you have to deal with that stuff. It's pretty bad here in CT too although not sure how bad compared to the rest of the map but I know what it's like, my mother has lymes disease and she got really really sick from it, it's def not something to take lightly. I went to school with a girl who had it also and the arthritis in her arm got so bad she could barely use it. Sometimes I forget to check myself when I come back inside thanks for sharing I will have to pay more attention now that I have a 10 month old I can't screw around with that stuff.

Yeah, your certainly in the high risk area. I had always thought that pretty much everywhere was the same risk but I was obviously wrong. The thing is the amount of ticks I keep finding just gets worse and worse. When I was a kid I was never inside, I was always out in the woods doing something. On a vary rare occasion I would find a tick. Now if I am outside longer than 30min and or in the woods just for a walk than I can guarantee I have a tick on me. The trouble is finding them little things.

Here is map of the higher risk areas but as far as I am concerned any area with ticks should be considered high risk.. I just don't want to see anyone else going through all this crap that im going through.

hope you caught this in time and they get it under control asap.
get well bro !

Wash youre pets in Dawn Dishwashing Soap that will help keep tics and fleas from biting and coming inside youre house.

Well it shows me in a minimal risk area, but we have lots of ticks. I normally find a couple on me a month, but I usually catch em before they bite. Normally I think I pick em up in tall grass, but I've had em fall outta trees onto me before too. I've only known a couple people in over 20 years here that have got lyme disease, but I know it sucks, hope its not too bad for you.

i have dealt with 2 tick problems this year.
1 on me another on my daughter:mad:
great post/awarness:)
im in the high region:mad:

Good luck dealing with the disease, and thanks for the reminder. Serious stuff indeed.

Thanks for all the support fellas..

Starting to feel kinda normal again I guess ?. Other than feeling like im Blaasters age ;) ,,with no energy or anything I guess It could be worse ?

I just take an antibiotic 2x a day for 60 days and then go for another test and go from there. Anyone else would most likely be fine but my body just isn't cooperating with this antibiotic. Its like I take the pill and within an hour it feels like I am having a hangover hugging the throne  (literally)..

So Please,,,, After EVERY ride Remember to check yourself for these "P,I,T,A" ticks. They can sure put a hurtin on ya.

(who wants a hangover twice and day for a month strait and you don't even to get to enjoy a beverage?) <<<NOT THIS GUY ,, and hopefully not you !! Check yourselves Blaster bros. Don't be a D**K check for ticks....

im sorry to report i am a victum as well.
i got bite by a tick late june, and i did not feel anything out of the ordinary for a few weeks later.
on july 2 i started to get really sick,so me being me i blamed it on other things and thought i will get better within a week:(....Nope i have been not feeling well off/on for this entire month.
I finally went to the er and the next day to my dr office.....Everything checked out.
Except until 2 hours ago i got the phone call about my lyme disease blood test,it came back POSITIVE
the tick was only on me for like 45minutes,from the time i felt it and could get it all the way out.
The hospital and my doctor sayed it had to be embedded in my skin for 24hrs for me to get the disease...
well they were wrong....Im still waiting on the medicine/trying to get it before the night is out.The dr said to try and stay out of direct sunlight, and that i have to take it for a month:mad:

this is the first time i have ever dealt with this my whole life....It also ruined my birthday a few days ago grrrrrrr
this tick bite me inside my house WTF

Damn bro that sucks, I thought I had it cause 2 weeks ago I was SOO sick 103 fever for 2 days then dropped to 101 for a day or two and finally went away. I got lucky. Hopefully you have a "speedy" recovery.

i had blood work done at the hospital...it took like 2 days for the results
in the mean time they were saying i was fine,i waited way to long to go get checked out my mistake.
im not happy of the findings, but i am happy that im not crazy and hope the medicine sets me straight..
@jus_me _ says it made him sick as hell...im not looking foreward to that part if any

Speedy ,, you have lymes or are being treated for it? The lymes itself sux but it was the strong antibiotics that I personally couldn't handle. However,, a fellow forum member suggested I take probiotics which really helped allot..

its all new to me i got phone call 2 hrs ago from hospital, they told me i was positive and to contact my regular dr.
dr office is closed,so i called on call dr he sent over the medicine to pharmcy
and i wont even get the medicine till 11pm tonight when wife gets home.
i have had crazy headaches,no energy and a million other symptoms:(
i took the tick off like 5minutes after it wasw on me,but it took awhile to get it all out,and awhile to get symptoms

You prob got bit by another one and don't even know it ? Plus not everyone gets the bulls eye rash like I got .. He prob prescribed Doxycycline . I just cant stomach that stuff. Hopefully you will handle it better than I can . You should feel better after a few days on the antibiotic. I have good days and bad days.

Forgot to add. If/When taking the antibiotics get yourself some probiotics. Fast6hand recommended them and they DO work great,, especially when taking strong antibiotics..

There is more than one antibiotic you can take . If the one bothers you too much then ask for another one instead. Stay out of the sun too.
