The Tavern - Your Chatter Feed

i have been soooo busy with me moving i feel lost
preety soon i will be settled and back on track
sooner the better:(

cable/home phone/internet was down just to add to it for awhile
not that i have the strength at moment to play..

I hear you man, I can barely make it on here nowdays. Just finished tearing down a house and saving all the lumber, used some of that to build a lean-to (12x32), and before I finished that decided to add a lean-to-2 so another 8x32, and working on that JD tractor, plus just finished drying in my mom's future house, and getting ready to start my build/remodel, all while having a rock job and also some structural (residential condos) building repairs at work. Oh and helping build a new playground at the local community center and mentoring my nephew on his senior project (speed bagging), and still manage to sell a few things a week on ebay. Just ain't enough hours in the day! Gonna be updating my house thread before too long, gonna be full time (after work) on that as soon as the tractor, lean-tos, and playground get finished up, hopefully about 2 weeks from now!

John Deere with the backhoe on will fit on the right, and leaves the left open for 4wheelers and lawnmowers. Gotta finish cleaning up and maybe try and get a couple tons of gravel to put in there. So far about $100 in lumber, and $150 in post bases and concrete, all the rest was reclaimed from the house I took down. Covers about 700sqft

Tomorrow night is back to the John Deere, to hopefully get it going

i took down a shed and swingset that i made....cheap:D
know it is a pile by the other shed that was here and falling apart lol.
still have alot of things in boxes unpacked
i had to fix like ever door on this new place/locks/moldings are screwed ect

You sound like me, normally one of the first things I do when I move into a place is fix all the doors. I hate a door that don't shut right (my ocd shining through). I jacked up the floor in the place I'm at now to get one to shut right. I hate moving, thats when you find out how much stuff you really got.

i could not even get on the internet tonight/and comcast was here 3 days ago:mad:

Got the winter tires off the shelf, time to clean them up and probably paint them finally.

over 2 hours cleaning just the backside of 2 of them... probably going to have like 10 hours cleaning when im done lol

im using a steel brush right now. with a lot of scrubbing the stuff comes off.
if i use aircraft remover it is a lot easier, but makes the remaining paint really sticky and not quite as clean

so im not sure what to do there...

Wow sounds nice man, I would love to have that. I'm gonna be happy when I can get my 1300/4 bedroom.

Couldn't make any progress on the tractor. I've bled it a few times as Blaaster suggested. I've tried taking off a couple of access/inspection covers, but they didn't help. I've been debating tryin to take the governor off, but I can't find much info on these pumps. I have learned alot, and watched a few good videos, but it seems that the internals are a big secret. Tonight, I took the return line of the tank and used my compressor to add some pressure to the system, hoping it would break something loose, but nothing. The next thing I'll try is taking the delivery valves off the top of the pump. At least then I can get more cleaner into it and let it soak awhile, and make sure they're clean. I'm thinking that my problem is probably inside the governor, possibly either the fuel shutoff, or maybe a check valve before the pistons/pump itself.

Well I worked on the delivery valves today. When I started to loosen the first one, fuel came out of the top. So I immediately tightened it back down, and turned the engine over, but no fuel would come out. So I went ahead and took it all the way off. Luckily I didn't lose any parts lol. There's a spring and a couple other small parts, but it all looked quite clean. So I cracked loose the bolt holding the return line and watched the fuel drain down. Then I went ahead and put the valve back on, but left it a turn or so loose. Then I loosened the others slightly, and started to spray carb cleaner into one. To my surprise it instantly came out the other 3. So I sat there and slowly dribbled carb cleaner until it was overflowing all the other valves. Gonna let it sit a few days, see if I can find anymore info, and then get back on it.

what year and make is this?
you have the manual?

Yeah I have the service manual, its a John Deere 4600, not sure on year, think its a 99. Not sure if I said above, but its got 630 hours. Its got a front end loader, and backhoe attachment, but all the bolts holding the bh broke, along with a few other things. Got everything else fixed, just gotta get diesel to it. If it was a gas engine I'd have it going by now, this is the first diesel I've ever worked on. It belongs to a friend, and if I can get it running, I get to basically keep it because he has no use for it. He just doesn't wanna sell it because his grandpa bought it. They run about $20k
