The best worst luck I guy could ever have

That is really bad news Bro!

Check the depth and quality of the machining where the clip fits.

In my early days I worked in quality control in a factory that produced pistons.
Being only a small tipped tool that machines the groove, it is prone to breaking.

If the tip breaks off, then the problem can be easily picked up, but if it only chips, the result will be a groove which is not deep enough, whick looks good to the inspector, who in my day only did an eye inspection.

In no way am I bagging Wiesco, but I can fully understand how an imperfect piston can slip by the inspector.

You may have picked up one of the few pistons that fooled quality control.

doesn't hurt to take a look for that, thanks for the tip. I will be sending my whole motor out to ken for him to redo the top end and put it together the right way. My confidence just got shot down by this blaster breaking down. Ken's a great guy and will take care of me and he said I might even have it back in time for saturdays pracetice

this saturday, ken is charging me for a piston but I will see if I can get a free one from weisco

hooking you up, and allowing you to "jump line" as i know his shop is full of motors, and get it back to you within a week ????

KOR....FTW !!!!!

exactly! wouldn't have anybody else work on my engines besides me

I feel the same way!!!!

That sucks bro about your motor id suggest you watch/study kens top end walk tgrough he adresses the circlip indexing in detail.

Dont feel bad from the voice on the vid you sound young so dont beat yourself up we all make mistakes some more costly than others.

Yea thats pretty f**king cool of ken i spent most of friday afternoon and evening on the phone with him and hes busting ass at 16hrs a day 7 days a week and cant get ahead so awks dead on about you jumping line how in the hell ken sleeps/eats/gets laid or does anything for himself is beyond me working like that!

And by the way awesome looking blaster you do the work?If so props to you bro!!!

your engine working privileges have been revoked for 30 days after this!! lol

haha exactly why I am sending it to Ken! Having this happen beat up my confidence a little bit, but it reminds me to be even more careful next time.

Yea, better to make these mistakes on my stuff then anybody else's. Better to make them now when I have the money to fix them too!

Yea Ken has my vote of confidence (whatever is left of it) anytime!

I completely rebuild the whole motor, bottom and top end. I installed the new swinger, a-arms, handlebars, and everything else on a new frame that I painted. So I kinda did do it myself.

that sucks man. i know how it feels to get a new topend back and together and then find out it needs to be ripped back apart.

Well youve done a kick ass job so far i like it bro.

As for the motor id really suggest splitting the cases and cleaning any shrapnel from the circlip it dont take much to ruin your next motor. If memory serves me correct i remember ken saying a few granuals of sand smoke a bore so a few peices of steel gotta be as bad.

I must say your outlook is far better than mine i had a very short amount of time on my 240 when it did a 4 corner seize and i had to send it off to ken i let it sit almost a year before not being so irritated with it i could stand to work on it.

Went over it with a fine toothed comb making sure to triple check it all and its been up and going for a year now has 20ish hrs on it and still has 167psi compression and never gives me any trouble unless i start swapping carbs lol.

If moneys no issue or you have it to spare id suggest you do anything this time around that you may have held off on last time such as porting i am still kicking myself in the sack over not having ken port my 240 after leanrning what theyre capable of afterwards.

Saw the work you did in the vid you remind me of me likes everything to be a certain way and likes to do everything yourself.:D:D:D

What video is this? And yea I can't have anybody else telling me how to do something unless they know more about it then I do....like Ken!

It seemed like the circlip is still intact inside of the piston, where the oil holes are or whatever they are called. I shipped my whole motor to ken, I will ask him if he thinks it needs to be split.

I actually had Ken port the same cylinder and I had him bore that same cylinder previously. I also had him machine my head for more compression. No skimping for me! Besides not having a 240 kit. I would rather just buy a 250r for that price.

Did ken port you banshee?
