Im currently running a 18" tall back tire using stock gearing and love the bottom end power. What size sprockets would I need to have the same bottom end with a 20" tall or 22" tall tires?
i dont know but i know blasters come stock with 13/40 gearing and if you drop the front sprocket size in front then it will give you more bottom end and if you raise the front sprocket size then it will give you more top end. i was running 14/40 gearing with 18s and i was happy with the bottom end power, but my blaster lacked top end power. i think its the opposite with the rear gearing but im not sure
you can go smaller with your front sprocket or larger with the rear. Typically 1 tooth change in front does about the same as 3 in the rear. Are you going to a taller tire? I would try it out first before changing sprockets to see if you like it. The blaster is geared low already and stock tires are 22 I believe.
With 13/40 gearing and 18 inch rear tires, theoretical top speed is 47ish at 8000 rpm.
With 12/41 gearing and 20 inch rear tires, the top speed is pretty much the same. Stays in the 47ish realm. So, with what you have, to move to larger rears youd have to drop a tooth in the front and add a tooth in the rear.
With 22s? You couldnt even get there. 12t front is the smallest Ive seen on a blaster, and I dont know about fitting a 42t rear on. But lets assume you could. With a 12t front and a 42t rear with 22s, your top speed is ~52mph so you gain 5mph of top speed.
I made a blaster specific gearing calculator (I really wish theyd just sticky the damn thing), that will help you. Its what I used.
So, hoping a mod/admin will see this, and sticky the calculator. Ive answered a bunch of questions with it. I even modified my colors on my page to match this place
