i am getting ready to replace my engine seals and was thinking about ordering a vito's spacer plate to help out my bike. my local shop says he can raise the ports for bout 30 bucks. any advise on which to choose. i have full fmf exhaust, .040 shaved head, +4 stator advance, 68mm wiseco piston, tors delete 270 main needle in 3rd slot, no air box lid running 32:1 premix.

if you raise the cylinder without moding the head you will loose your compression and squish will be too loose. it will make peak HP and TQ in a hgher rpm than before but the actual power gain will be minimal to none. get it ported by a pro.

guess i will look into getting it ported when money allows. i am in the process of buying a house right now so more power may have to wait a lil while. bike runs great i was just looking to get a little more out of her

i hear ya. what all power mods you have? maybe we can figure something else out. oh i see you listed them alreay in the first post, sorry. whats ur gearing?

i have full fmf,4 degree advaned stator, boysen pro reeds, stock carb with tors delete 270 main needle in 3rd slot, maybe 10 hrs on 68mm wiseco, head shaved .040, ngk b8es and i run 93 pump gas 32:1, k&n air filter and air box lid removed. not sure on my elevation but im in the north georgia mountains maybe 1300ft??

really your next hp step would be porting and head rechambering along with a bigger carb. nothing cheap that i can think of that you havent already done, sorry.

i wouldnt run anything bigger than a 20" tire out back.

thanx for the help tator. i have a 28mm keihin from a 03 rm 85 waiting to be used and a set of 94 cr125 carbon reeds and reed cage i have been wanting to mod into my jug. i have talked to o connor about re shaping my head. maybe this fall i can sweet talk my wife into letting me send it off for more power! lol

no problem man!

that pwk carb will make a noticable difference in power, the reeds should help some too.

any suggestion on a baseline jetting for the keihin? not sure what jets are in it now but i could run down to my shop and tare it down to see.

i dont have it wrote down, but i can give you a rough idea. to start, 50 pilot, needle in middle and a 165 main. it has been a long time since i have ran a pwk on a stockish engine. someone else could get you closer.

thanx again. i will check it out and see what i need to get for it. any suggestions on how to hook the air boot to it? maybe a short piece of pvc pipe and clamps?

The PWK 28mm will fit into a stock boot. No worries there. I would think a 50 pilot and 150 main should be close. Best to buy a assortment of jets from 145 to 165 and pilots 42 to 55. Rocky mountain atv is where I got mine.

sounds good holden. i know the carb fits my intake boot just fine but i had fitment issues with the air snorkel stretching over the mouth of the carb. that is one reason i am not currently running the pwk on my bike. think i read i can cut back the snorkel and use pvc pipe and a silicon fitting with some clamps?

yeah, that is the easiest and cheapest way that works just fine.
