yep im thinking 400ex, cause i have enough money and there loud and fast just the way i like emm lol. and 400ex also because i dont want to have to borrow any money off my grandparents lol

well guys i sold my blaster for 1950, and i found these too quads that i like but i dont no which one i should get. 2003 400ex

2005 honda trx450r trade

check emm out and tell me which one. i was thinking the 400ex cause it can keep up with a 450, and its bored to 440.

not trying to burst ur bubble or anything but i can tell you from first hand experience that a moded 400ex can never compare to a 450r, nor keep up with it even if its a 440 stroker with a 14:1 on cp110, just not gunna happen, 400ex is a good woods bike and nothing else due to having a tractor like powerband, gearing and compact wheelbase, 450r would be that best bang for the buck for the long run, especially if it has a stock motor because its guaranteed not messed with or molested, gives you a clean blank sleet to work with for years to come.

keep in mind also the 400ex motor dates back from the late 80's, while the 450r motor dates to 2002, it was designed to be the predecessor in every way possible, hence why they even bothered making it, ex motor is the old XR motor, 04-05 trx450r motor is the 02-03crf450r motor

Watch that crank though. I hear they go bad sooner in the 04-05's.

before you buy it, ask to see the oil filter. If there are ANY copper colored shaving in it, walk away.... if there are some aluminum shavings thats okay...

but if you take care of it, the cranks will last forever... change the oil often.

I have learned something today

just watchin out for ya brotha, yes check the oil filter, crank failures are only common on bikes that arent regularly maintained, this is a high performance engine so you must keep up with maintenance in order for it to last at all, i change fluids on my 450r every 10hrs of service with a new oil filter every time. you do that you will be a happy camper, 450r alllllll the way man you wont regret it

man you 2 stroke die hard fans cry all the time how much it costs to work on a 4 stroke boo hoo....i did the whole top end on my foreman for 325. it aint that damn cheap on a 2 stroke either. i just spent 1300 bucks getting the yz 250 rebuilt so where is is so cheap on a 2 stroke. yall act like 4 strokes are the devil, this gets amusing on here sometimes.

just get what you want your the one gonna be riding it everyday, if you want the ex go for it. if you want the 450 go for it both good machines. me personally i would spend the little extra dough and get the 450 that ex will have to be worked pretty good just to get what the 450 will do stock and later on when you want more then you have something to build off of. if you listen to everybody on motor failures its always I HEAR this or I HEARD that about one thing or another they are ALL gonna break if you dont maintainence it 2 or 4 stroke and that sir is a matter fact.

ive never had a 4-stroke failure in my life though, ive had many dozens of bikes all were rode from new to super old with hundreds of hours. its just like a two-stroke if you keep up with maintenance you will never have an issue, i rebuild my race bikes yearly since i run hi-comp pistons in them which are subjective to increased wear, costs a bit more to rebuild, but 2-strokes use alot more gas than a 4-stroke so the costs all come out in a wash especially when gas is 4bucks a gallon

usually the people who cry about them being to expensive to rebuild have no experience with them....

and the ones who do are the idiots that think they are maintenance free...

i rebuilt my trx450r with a cp 13.5:1 piston with all hardware and commetic gaskets for $290 in my garage, thats using top of the line products. if i was only gunna use a wiesco piston i could do it for 200bucks or less, those prices are on par with a 2stroke rebuild

exactly......ive also got 3 3wheelers in my shop form the mid 80's on the same top end they were bought with and still running strong ;)
