I have an 01 blaster that will only run if u pull start but the minute u stop rolin it dies no matter how hard u try to keep it runnin wat would cause this and it will not kick start.

Could be a problem with the AFR being way too lean to keep the motor running.

It may pay to leak test as if you have a leak it can make for very poor running.

Problem found! The 3 month old piston that had recommended break in time of 8 hours is trash it has chunks missing out of the side of the piston and half the upper ring was gone and the cylinder sleeve is trash. So my question. Wat is the max bore for a yamaha blaster i was told 110. Is that true?

Leak test it before you pull it down.

Where did the information about breaking it in for 8 hours come from, it sure is a new one for me?

Sadly you need more than just a rebore, you will need to split the cases, remove all the piston debris from the crankcase, clean preferably replace all the bearings.

Number of bores that can be done to a stock jug I believe is 6.

Im in the process of pulling the whole case apart and just order all bearing for the bottem end gonna have the crank checked gonna install a new clutch and gonna advance the timing 4 or 5 degrees

Advancing more than +4 can be playing with fire, you need to monitor detonation scrupiousley.

heat mainly correct jetting will be a big help though and not luging the bike in 2nd off the pipe will help also with premium gas becomes paramount the more bores you go through i suppose (IDK if that part is true) hey guys is it just me or has there been a lot of guys blowing up blasters and having to split the cases as a result lately????

If i max bore the motor is there anything i should be aware of the potential future problems that i should just address now while its apart??

Ok so besides replacing bearings in the lower end is there anything else i change. Srry for so many questions i just want to do it 100% right.

if you max bore the bike you'll have to buy a $90 la sleave and have some one install it which i wouldent know how to do or how much but would magine its fairly expencive to do cause youd have to have a mecanic who knows whats he/she's doing. but as far as over boring and having bad juju fall to the lower i wouldent think so as long as the previous piston's metal bits are taken care of.

only the ones who haven't..... leakdown & compression test, properly heat cycled and broke in new engines, run 6th gear wide open for miles down the road, never clean their airfilters, not rejet for modifications ect. ect.

all the correct info to a reliable, long lasting engine is on here, but some refuse to follow proven methods, or only find this place after the damage is already done.

My jug already has a leave that i was told by a mechanic is capable of being bored 90 over. Bottom end is clean bearings look great . So now im just waitin on my vitos super stock forged piston kit to come in.
