New to 4wheelers and just had the cylinder redone on my 99 blaster. put it all back together and it smoked like crazy. smelled like burnt motor oil. it went away was thinkin it was because the rings had to seat themselve into the newley bored cylinder. but now it is smokin again and smells like burnt motor oil. i am runnin 10w40 in the bottom end cause thats what the yamaha dealer in my area said to use and a buddy that used to work in a 4wheeler shop said it would be o.k and thats what i think its burnin and the smoke is a white colour. any info would be sweet thanks

Is it running good? If not then darederek is correct. Did you oil everything real good when you put it back together? How long have you had it running? Do you still have the oil injection hooked up? If you haven't ran it long after you built it, then you need to give it time for the oil to burn off in the cylinder. If the injection is still working, it may be sending too much oil. Could be a number of things.

If your original piston broke apart, you more than likely have a cracked case. Pieces of the piston wedge between the crank and case breaking into the transmission area, oil from the tranny then gets sucked into the cylinder. Smokes bad. This is a very common problem in Blasters, two out of every four major overhauls I do have broken cases. The crank seal is a very long life item and hardly ever goes bad.

My clutch side seal was toast. It was sucking in trans oil all the time, had to add oil all the time, but it ran pretty damn good actually. Of course it ran better after I replaced it....An easy and cheap fix even if you just want to do it to eliminate the possiblity.
