Just got my Wiseco piston rings toaday. My rant is why the hell do they charge $9.95 to ship rings? They came in a box big enuff to ship about a 100 set of rings and on top of that, they didn't even give me any sticks. In my opinion, they rip you off big time on the shipping.

I wish I could THEY were, but from their perspective, it's probably just more the shipping companies. Shipping has gone up since fuel cost's have gone up. I mean realistically most people are losing money. Just think how much it would cost just to drive to Wiseco and pick the rings up in terms of gas cost alone. As far as I'm concerned it's a steal to have it shipped for $10..........I hate it too, but that's the reality of the matter.

United states postal service would have been maybe 2 bucks for those rings , and how cycle gear can give me free shipping on stuff? I think it's the sellers greed .
Fleets like ups and fed ex pay next to nothing for fuel on contract and what they do pay is a write off .

It's not entirely a write off to my knowledge. I worked for UPS a while back in college at the Columbus hub and occasionally worked at the Obetz airfield where UPS undocks shipments. I spoke to numerous managers there that were concerned about the fuel costs even then and that's with aviation fuel. According to UPS about a year ago or so, they raised their shipping rates on the basis of the fuel costs.

yeah, thats total B.S....

we just shipped a 15 pound shock to axis to be rebuilt and it only cost 13$....

It could fit in a USPS $5 flat rate box.It would fit even better in a padded vanilla envolope.

That much I would agree on. They probably tack on extra for packaging and processing as well. It's just not as easy as one guy running Wiseco and sending everything out when you have a company that large. I feel your pain though. When I wanted a woodruff key before lucking out and getting one, it was $7 in shipping from RATV and I just couldn't justify paying that amount for a tiny piece of metal so I made my own, but lucked out and found an OEM spec one anyways.

yeah man it sux ass, but guess what we pay it and have no choice but to pay it because its what we need and they know that, cocksuckers

It's kind of like being a crack head and going through withdrawal and somebody is selling a stone for $100......you know you are getting hustled, but god damn....you just gotta have it. I:I

" cost of fuel " is the reason they use to quantify their excuse for charging more for shipping rates . Just like the airlines , they aren't bottoming out because of fuel costs , they are making money because they cut services , make even more money off the same service and generally people stop bitching when they hear " cause fuel costs so much " because they think of the cost just to fill the tank in their car . Its not the cost of fuel , but its the cost of employing people that burns at the crux of corporations . "More from Less " and less and less and less . If the price of fuel was just killing companies like these ( same with the company I work for we pay far less at the pump on contract ) then the airlines could just shut down right? LOL think of all the income the federal government will lose from taxes !!! they aren't going to tolerate that . Say UPS decided fuel cost too much and they shut the doors? LOL sure thats gonna happen they deliver more everyday than the USPS does in a week , business in this country would grind to a halt . Its not fuel , Its greed .

I find that hard to believe for a couple reasons. UPS's stock in general has fallen up until mid-last year and FEDEX has profited far more than UPS in the past decade as a whole. Raising your rates puts a real hurt on your business compared to your competitor's rates especially when your competitor is not only gaining on you, but actually on the verge of surpassing you. Keep in mind, corporations and many companies are contractually obligated through these shipping carries......for example......Barnes and Noble ships exclusively through UPS as does Toys R Us, some TV manufacturer's, etc......you would sh*t yourself if you seen what % of that stuff isn't your "typical private package" and is actually from online sales, manufacturer's, etc. ....On a daily basis I probably sorted over 500 Barnes and Noble items....and I was 1 person on a 40 person sort line in just the Columbus hub which is much smaller than the Louisville hub. Also, UPS owns and operates their own aircraft. The Obetz field is actually owned by UPS exclusively for their flights.
