I was riding today and I didn't notice but the chain had loosened. When I hit a patch of ice the tires broke loose and the chain jumped and killed the motor. I got off and looked and the chain guard piece of the stator cover was in pieces and there were chips of thick plastic stuck there. I know I took shavings off the case but I was wondering if the stock Blasters came with case savers or not? The peices of plastic are pretty thick which leads me to believe that there was one there but I want to know for sure. And if there is one there what are my chances of cracking the case? I also started it up again for 10 seconds after and I didnt hear any abnormal noises or see oil coming out so what do you think? Any descriptive responses will get rep points. Thanks, Paul.

Talk to blasterfreek30 an see if he still has some, they seem to work really well, and look good too, the stock blaster didnt really have one besided the plastic on the inside of the stator cover

No I mean would I have cracked the case or would the stock one have saved me?

it really depends on how hard it hit, with out the chain snapping i cant see too much damage being done, now with a chain snapping some good damage can be done, i plan on getting one of freeks savers this summer

Alright thanks. The chain didnt snap but I can see the chain jumped high enough to take shavings out of the case by the clutch lever on the case. And Ill check into the savers thanks. =]

Best way to know for sure what damage it might have done is to pull the stator cover off and have a look. Only a few screws holding it on. The gasket is rubber and can be reused and there is no oil behind the cover so you wont lose any from there unless your case is cracked or broken.

Ok well my brother checked today while I was gone and it turns out I blew a hole in the case.... Anyone have a side case that they will sell me? Can't pay much but I have other parts to trade for one. I have a +4 swinger, stock A-Arms, head and jug, Elka rear with rezzie, rear axle, and hubs. Please if you can help me out private message me. Springs coming around and this Blaster is my only ride.

Alright so now I official make the calls on the Blaster because he was wrong. I pulled the stator cover and NO CRACK! I was so happy I'm suprised I didn't pass out. =] But is there supposed to be some factory drilled hole towards the bottom of the case? Theres a drilled hole down there on mine. And also, I had to remove the part of the cover that holds the wires so where should I put the wires now?

yes, there's a hole in like a boss by the output of the trans. if nothing is coming out don't worry about it.

sounds like a close call.

Haha you dont even know how close. Lol I had to pick peices of the case saver out of the chain it hit so hard. But I had to cut off the chain gaurd piece so where should I run the wires?
