shock polish and paint

These front stock shocks were killing me with the color and the fact they been painted like 6 times and were nasty when i got them so i had to do something in the mean time until i get new ones.

Rigged the springs up on the 40 ton press. It didnt take much pressure to compress the springs, but enough to make it extremely dangerous if something slips. Removed the springs and wire wheeled the nasty paint off the shocks and springs. Polished the chrome up with Steel wool and "Mothers" chrome polish. Painted the springs with satin black. Rode about 100 miles afterwards on gravel and dirt roads and the paint held up great.

A couple more pics... I know the frame looks nasty but that will change here soon... And the rear shock i will do maybe this weekend..

You dont necessarily need a 40 ton press. Its just what i had. I dont know how many pounds of pressure it took it wouldnt even register on the press. But its dangerous either way cause there is a good amount of pressure...
 
look great im just gettin some covers lol but im still gonna polish the though and thay had another thread on dis and im pretty sure it said how to take them off with out any high teck tools! and looks awesome!!

they do look awesome, but you need new tires bud

Them are actually my buddys used stock 400ex tires he gave me..haha.. Should of seen mine before i put these on they leaked out they was sooo bald. Ya new tires coming soon. I just need one more month of riding before i do my complete tear down. haha...
 
lol im just gonna get mine torn apart next year paint the frame and then new plastics ive rode in winter before so im getting pretty anxious to see if i like it or not!!
