shift star ?

if u have a 03 up shift star thats welded on the end is that basically a modded pre 03 shift star?? or when these engine guys mod the shift star are they doing something else?

the builder will change the shape and size of the shift star to give you smoother shifts with a less likely chance of hitting neutral. i had mine modded and it shifts like butter, when im racing i keep it pinned but use the clutch and its just bang bang bang. a very nice mod I:I I:I

Newer shift stars are welded on like that from the factory. The older ones had a bolt there that had a tendency to fall out.

The mod basically takes a bit off the tips.

^^thats all it is, just grind the tips down and it will shift smooth with no notchiness....cheap and easy mod

i'm gonna be doing this when i pull mine apart to put forks in it. might weld the star on too, it has a little bit of play IIRC.

i think it is for both if it is done correctly.
on a banshee it is sometimes very hard to find nuetral.
